Peace and quiet, sun and sand, friendly smiles, plentiful food and yummy desserts, Mama Juana,(ooh yeah) - what more could you ask for? Vacation is what you bring to it, and keeping in mind this is a third world country, don't sweat the small stuff. Perfect resort for a romantic getaway and for friends/couples who simply want to chill. The sister resorts have most of the night life and the casino if you want to venture out. My friend and I are too tired at night for adventure, but the disco is worth a look around! These people work hard and long hours, and we are always appreciative of their efforts. No time schedules, no cooking, no dishes, no housework, no worries... the only "work" was deciding where to dine at night! We love the buffet with their theme nights. Lots of great people watching there and variety of new dishes to try. We LOVE this resort!

Room Tip: There are 5 buildings; 1-3 quieter and closest to the buffet and lobby. 4-5 closer to the pool and b...

The Punta Cana Princess is a great place if you want to relax, have a few drinks, be served with a smile and get work out of your head. The food was great I really liked the Steak house and found it easy to get a table at all restaurants. My husband liked the Seafood restaurant the best. We agree with the other reviewers that the night life is limited but for us that was not a problem as we are early risers. The ocean was beautiful but I personally dont like rough waters and the seaweed. Unlike Cuba it can gets rough which means you are unable to see the fish etc. There was always a Palapa to sit under as there are many. The Oceans beds are a bit rundown and need to be fixed. The staff is fantastic. Whether you tip or not you are always served with a smile. Santa, Olive, Anabella, Mercedes and Emauel were extremly friendly. The only negative thing for us was the pillows and the mattress. They could use an upgrade. Another disapointment was the gym. It had the basics but only one treadmill and it only shut off by pulling the plug. I am only say theses negative things because I think it is good to be honest just incase these things matter to you on hoiidays. Would I return....in a heart beat!!

Room Tip: We stayed in building 4 but to be honest the resort is not that big so it really doesnt matter. Unit...

We stayed at Punta Cana Princess for 6 nights in late May 2012. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay there. The beach was gorgeous, the pool extra large with a swim-up pool bar and volleyball net. The lounges were plentiful. We were greeted at check-in with an umbrella fruity drink which was a nice touch. My request for building 5 was accommodated as well as my request for the 2nd floor. We found the staff there super friendly and eager to please. Like any place, there were a few negatives, but none big enough to keep me from not staying there again. These were: hard beds with poor quality pillows; WIFI costs extra and is unreliable. The entertainment here SUCKS. Their attempt at it was not very professional and seemed to be impromptu. Another down side is it seems nearly impossible to reserve at the "sister" princess restaurants. They tell you that you can, but good luck. Some of their beach "beds" need new shades and mattress pads as some were ripped and weathered. One BIG positive is you will not be hounded by the vacation club sales people or bothered around time share purchases here or a lot of annoying vendors.

The food was great as were the restaurants, and our favorite was the fondue restaurant. The AC and shower/water pressure great. The grounds were well manicured and gorgeous. The room was clean, and well stocked with water and soda. We were also greeted on our first day in the room with a plate of fresh fruit, a complimentary bottle of rum, and a box of 3 cigars. It was an awesome greeting and it was clear Punta Cana Princess wanted to take a step to sincerely welcome their guests. A shuttle transports visitors to the sister Princess properties as well as to the casino. I was glad we stayed at this all-adult resort because in comparison, the other resorts were very large, very busy, and very very loud/noisy.

Room Tip: Building 4 and 5 are closest to the beach and pool. Building 2 and 3 closest to lobby and buffet re...

We stayed at the Punta Cana Princess in May 2012 to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I picked the hotel based on its size, the quality of its beach, and the generally good reviews on Tripadvisor.

We were on the second floor in Building 5. A common remark is that the rooms are tired but that one doesn’t spend much time in there. Well we encountered rain on our first full day so we did spend more time in the room than anticipated, and quite frankly, the old girl is showing her age. She really needs some tarting up, and it wouldn’t take much to do so.

Let’s start with the scuff marks on the wall by the luggage rack (and other curious places). Some appear to have been there for years. Is it too much to ask that they be wiped off? Same with the mould in the bathroom – a little bit of elbow grease and a chemical of choice will keep it at bay. The chipped-up seahorse on the badly beat up door? Either scrape it off and repaint the door, or better yet, get new doors altogether. And while you’re at it freshen up the splotchy hallways with a new coat of paint. Lastly, the bedding has got to go. It’s old and lightly smells of smoke and mould.

To the hotel’s credit they did replace our non-functioning mini fridge - it took 2 days but being able to have a cold drink whenever we wanted one was a huge improvement.

The beach at the resort on the other hand is fantastic. Not as good as Maroma nor Xpu Ha in Mexico, but very good, especially for long walks both ways. The sand is tan, powder soft both in the ocean and on shore, with no rocks to speak of. There is of course a fair amount of sea grass.

I got to the beach most days by 7 am and could always get a palapa near the front. There was a bit of the towel game going on but I only saw one extremely egregious incident where the couple never showed up until 3 pm and then pulled the loungers out from under the palapa because at that point they wanted sun! The Bali beds appeared to be the least popular, perhaps because most did not provide shade.

A large portion of the guests were German; I’d like to thank Chelsea FC for putting the boots to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final while we were there. Otherwise our stay would have been unbearable (wink & smile).

The food at the resort runs the gamut from quite good to food that is merely sustenance. We dined twice at the Mare Nostrum, once at the Swiss fondue restaurant, twice at the Mexican restaurant, missed the Italian because it was closed the night of our choice, and had our other meals at the buffet. The a la cartes have a strict dress code for men; several times we witnessed people being turned away. I don’t mind wearing long pants, although I have to say that the nights were absolutely sweltering and more to the point it’s odd that the rooms have been let go to the extent that they are in a sense “casual” and yet when a guy shows up in shorts at a restaurant he gets shown the door. I think a lot of couples just didn’t bother with the a la cartes for that very reason.

I really enjoyed the Swiss fondue and looking back on it I regret we didn’t go a second time. The cheese fondue was outstanding, the chocolate dessert fondue, infused with cinnamon, was also outstanding. We’ve never encountered a fondue restaurant in any resort we’ve visited, so kudos to the PCP for providing such a unique experience.

We paid $25 per plate of lobster in Mare Nostrum and enjoyed it. The Mexican restaurant is of course not really Mexican but not bad. Musicians visit every table to play a song; I ended up tipping them after the fact. The buffet of course has theme nights and has the usual variety of foods one expects at a resort buffet. The selection of blended fruit juices however was disappointingly more limited than what we’ve experienced elsewhere. Lunch in the Mare Nostrum and on the beach I found to be quite uninspiring, to my mind simply being protein to stave off the pangs of hunger.

But to the credit of the employees we always received very attentive and personable service.

We paid $49 to extend our checkout on the day of our departure by 3 hours – that was worth it. We went on a tour to Santo Domingo for $79 each. We were taken to the Tres Ojos caves – somewhat like cenotes in the Mayan Riviera but no swimming – had a brief stop at a massive monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus (el Faro a Colón), had an extended tour of the Alcázar de Colón where Columbus’s son Diego administered the country, visited the Pantéon Nacional and the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, and then spent time on a pedestrian-only shopping street.

All in all a good time was had. I would only recommend the Punta Cana Princess to low maintenance types, those whose main ambition is to enjoy a great beach at a reasonable price.
