I went there for my birthday and everything was Amazing. Very relaxing and the staff was friendly,kind and extremely personable. I will go back and only stay at the excellence puta cana resort! Victor,Junior, Vidal, Carlos, Dario, Juan Carlos and all if the others. Awesome Service!

We stayed for 10 nights in the excellence club section. Check in was disappointing. After being meet by a nice glass of bubbly, we were then asked to wait in the lobby. We were then taken to the concierge room which was dull, had the musty smell and not very welcoming . After filling in the necessary paper work, we were taken out with 2 other couples, to be deposited at the bottom of a stairwell and told our room was top floor go find it!!!
The room was fine, did not smell and was clean. It was a little plain in decor and the sofa had some stains on it and looked shabby. A little strange to have a bathtub in the bedroom, but the bathroom itself was a good enough size and the toiletries were of good quality. The mini bar was well stocked although it was impossible to get them to fill it with the drinks you wanted and leave the out the ones you didn’t. The bed was comfortable enough and the room was cleaned well each day.
We only used room service once, the night we arrived and as with most room service it was average. The balcony is very small which was disappointing.
The gym is very well equipped and was never busy . We didn’t use the spa, it did seem very expensive .
The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. It wasn’t the best service we have experienced but it was fine.
The food was average. The buffet for breakfast is well stocked with plenty of choice. Our favourite restaurants were chez Isabelle and Mexican. We found the food at the excellence club restaurant not great for either breakfast or dinner.
The shows in the evening were ok but the Michael Jackson one was excellent .
There are plenty of sun beds around the pools and never the need to get up early to book one. All areas around the pools are well maintained, however we did feel that maintenance taking place at the club pool at 10.30 am was totally unnecessary, that work should be carried out early in the morning. The sea in this area is very rough so if you enjoy swimming in the sea this is not the resort for you .
Over all we felt this a good all inclusive, not an excellent all inclusive. We enjoyed our stay but have been to better so because of this we wouldn’t return .

We live in Santo Domingo and have stayed at circa six different hotels and sublets in Punta Cana last year. Excellence is our favorite (without kids). Great staff, great layout, sleek rooms, wonderful beach, good food and alcohol - which isn't always the case at all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana.

Be careful with the all-inclusive three and some of the four star hotels. To save money, they're incentived to serve the cheapest food and liquor they can get away. Once at another Punta Cana hotel, for example, they served my wife an I tequila - from an Absolute Vodka bottle. You can wake up with a bad headache from cheap liquor.

Excellence doesn't cut corners like this. First class, top shelf all the way. No pressure from beach vendors, relaxing. The only thing I'd note is that it's about 30 minutes north of Punta Cana "town" (Punta Cana is a fairly artificial place that was founded in 1969 and consists of a string of mostly all-inclusive cruise-ship like hotels - but it's becoming more organic also as more and more people settle). So it's a bit more isolated if you want to leave the resort to go shopping or golfing. Easier if you have a car - but not needed either. There's not much to see in Punta Cana outside the resorts. Inversly, because it's so far north in Punta Cana, the beaches don't have Sargasso grass (which can smell on the beach) and it's easier to visit Miches, which has some more mountainous terrain.

Lastly, we accidently canceled our room shortly before arriving, which, technically caused us to lose our pre-payment. But the hotel overrode the system and re-booked our room - which was nice of them to do. They could have stuck it to us.

In sum - this is where my wife and I go when we can escape. We'll go back. Five stars all the way.

This resort is stunning. The property is beautiful and there is so much to do. I was blown away by the warm welcome, assistance to my room, the adorable room setup upon arrival and the amount of pool space. My group of 8 never had to search for space in the pool or an areas to hang it together. Danny the bar tender was fantastic, personable and worked so hard to make us all feel like family. I highly recommend finding him at the bar on the far end near the water sports hut. Junior and Jean Carlos were great. Jean Carlos always found us, gave us high fives and took time to ask us how our day was, if everything was going well and if we needed anything. There was always something to do. Behind the spa was a ton of sports to do such as tennis, pool, ping pong, archery and so many more. Walking along the beach was beautiful and I felt safe walking off the property in either direction. My group would visit the huts near the water sports area and visit the dogs. They are all very friendly and helped with missing my own pups left at home. If you had some room in your suitcase for dog food or treats, the pups are so fun to watch eat snacks. Also, make sure to see the Michael jackson show for sure. It was better than the cirqu de sole show we saw in Vegas.

Just got back last night from a week at Excellence. October 11-18, 2018. Impeccably maintained resort. great food, customer service was top notch greeted with a smile everywhere. A lot of restaurants and bars located throughout to keep hydrated. drinks catered to your lounge chair very frequently. We met very nice people from all over the USA and England. We felt like life long friends a day after we met most. We opted not to pay extra for the Club experience and were happy we did. We met people that were there for the 10th and 11th years. That speaks highly for repeat business. We met travelers in the airport before our flight home and most had complaints about their stays at other beach front resorts. We had no complaints. We never left the premises for 7 days for any excursions. When you have found paradise why would you look elsewhere for anything better. The gardens are beautiful and constantly maintained. We spent time in the Sports bar and played cards while watching sports. Adults only was nice and peaceful. the evening entertainment was far better than resorts we stayed in mexico. The Spa was reasonably priced and staffed with friendly and experienced staff. The wait staff bent over backwards to make our every moment memorable and pleasurable. We are looking forward to our return trip back to this 5 star resort.
