Arriving on 17th September for two weeks holiday, we were told that Hurricane Maria would pay us a visit. Had a great time leading up to the hurricane, and were advised to go to our room at 9 00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. We were given polystyrene box with our breakfast for the following morning. At eight o'clock the waiters came with tea or coffee to our room, Lunch brought at 11 20 then afternoon tea at 3 00. Our dinner came at 6 00p.m. and the service we had was far above excellent.
A lot of the staff stayed overnight to make sure we were safe. The whole staff and management were absolutely wonderfull and nothing was to much trouble. There was no damage at all, and my wife sat on the balcony most of the day waiting for a palm leaf to fall in the wind. When we left over a week later, it was still on the tree. Apart from 70 mph wind and rain,we had a pretty good day. We had no fears or worry about anything there, as they looked after us so well.
I can recommend this hotel very highly, all the staff thrive on taking care of you. From cleaners to management they all speak to you.

Room Tip: There are no lifts. but all rooms are good.

The staff kidness is excellent, the hotel is ok for the price and the area is great you can find good restaurants and disco arround the project! If you planning to go, in my opinion is not the best but not the worst!

After reading a couple of negative reviews and seeing Irma arrive a couple of days before our departure date, it is fair to say we were nervous about what we might arrive to, however on arrival we found that there was no need to have been worried at all as there was barely any sign that Irma had ever been!

We were there during Maria and have to say that the staff were extremely well prepared, kept us very well informed and provided us with food during the curfew. This we were extremely impressed with, as the staff were doing this throughout the day, whilst Maria was still affecting the island. We felt extremely safe and in good hands. The following day, when we arrived for breakfast, the staff had almost put everything back to normal and there was absolutely no disruption whilst they did this which was extremely impressive and unexpected.

**Although it is hurricane season, aside from the 1 day curfew, we saw extremely hot weather and plenty of blue sky! I think it only rained twice when we were there (other than the hurricane) which lasted no longer than 10 minutes each time.

With regards to the general stay;
Food - We loved the pizza at the snack bar and the main buffet had a good range of food. I'm vegetarian and felt unusually spoilt for choice. We particularly liked the international buffet on Wednesdays. Our favourite A la carte was the Ocean Grill.

Rooms - The rooms were absolutely fine and good for your money - just some are a little dated. I think some of the comments on here are just forgetting that you get what you pay for. At the end of the day, if you're like us, you spend minimal time in the room anyway. We had a slight hiccup at the beginning of the holiday as we were put in the wrong room, which I'm not sure the maid had visited yet after the previous guests, but this was very quickly and easily resolved with a quick visit to reception and a room change. The second room was spotless and had an ocean view - bonus!

Pool - The pool was nice and we liked that there was the option for a quieter pool. There is also a small children's pool near the main pool.

Beach - The beach was lovely and we were half expecting more sea weed or debris to be on the beach after the hurricanes but the staff were so quick with clean up, you barely noticed it at all. Would highly recommend visiting the sea pro guys, either in the hotel or directly on the beach and take advantage of the free snorkelling, as the coral on the beach is amazing! One thing to note is that there are vendors on the beach, which I think are specific to each hotel, but you have to be comfortable with saying no if you don't want something. If not - we worked out if you walked out onto the beach near the sea pro guys, the vendors didn't notice you lol.

Shopping - If you want to buy anything in either the hotel shops or the local shops at the mall, I would recommend taking pesos to these as we found they had quite a high exchange rate on their pricings if you paid in dollars, or charged a fee to pay for an item in dollars, which had been priced in pesos. We mainly used our dollars for the entry / exit taxes, excursions and at the airport.

Staff - I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. Throughout the entire holiday we felt we were treated really well and constantly looked after. Particularly Jose Miguel in the buffet restaurant, in the evenings, was fantastic. He had new drinks for us as soon as we finished the last and on one night in particular, I had sun stroke and couldn't make it down to the restaurant. When my boyfriend went down to eat on his own, Jose let him bring up a plate of food for me and even got some bottles of my preferred drink so that I could have that as well. The entertainment team were very good and had a lot of energy, we especially loved the pool party! Eduardo on the main / pool bar was lovely and had a fab selection of his own special drinks (ask for no.3!). Also Silvia, our rep was very good and definitely knew her stuff.

Overall, we felt really well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the pool are quieter and most have an ocean view.
