Very well located cottage in the Roseau Valley. Recently built, and well fitted in a minimalistic sort of way. The inside lighting is very dim.
Clearly the cottage had been built when the restaurant was still running and as such there are no self catering facilities apart from a coffee maker (makes hot water) and fridge.
For those that want to keep a rein on their costs this may be a problem but as we were only there for 4 nights and we had a reasonable meal in the restaurant on one of them it was an issue but we managed (bread and cheese on the others...)
However I would not have booked if I had realised beforehand.
Sabine and Marco are very nice people and helpful.
The sun goes down at 1800 and there is not much to do in the rain forest apart from listen to the tree frogs and the pouring rain.
We spent 3 nights in this comfortable cottage, which is perched on the side of a lush river valley. Just like being in a treehouse! The spacious veranda offered a breezy spot to read in a hammock or watch the hummingbirds as they darted about in nearby flowers.
Breakfasts and dinners were simply wonderful - everything was fresh, healthy & homemade. Pizzas, made from scratch by Marco, were presented piping hot from a wood-fired oven. Meals were served on a cosy, open-air terrace, lit up at night by Sabina's unique hand-crafted calabash sconces.
Owners, Sabina and Marco, were welcoming and attentive. We very much enjoyed our time with them. If you find yourself in the beautiful Roseau Valley, you should definitely plan a stay at Sunshine Cottage.
