“Absolutely stunning Villa”
Reviewed 5 February 2018 for a stay in January 2018

We rented the Villa in Jan/Feb 2018. We were three couples, two of us had to attend a conference in the Hilton, which is basically across the street.
The house is beautiful and well equipped. We felt very fortunate to be able to stay there. It is clean and has everything you need for cooking and entertaining.
The walk to the beach is less than 5 min, and entrance to the Pirate Bay Beach Club is free for people staying at the house.
We didn't rent a car first, we thought we could maybe do without. Buses are okay during the week, but very infrequent on weekends, so we ended up calling Xioamara on the Sunday after our arrival (her cell phone is provided in the folder with house information), and she delivered a car within hours to a very good rate.
Groceries stores are around 5 km away, apart from a tiny convenience store right at the entrance to the Piscadera Bay Resort, which is VERY expensive and sells mainly alcohol, snacks, and toiletries.
All in all a great stay, I would always recommend to others.
Tips: yes, bring bug spray (at least during raining season) and keep the doors and windows that don't have a mosquito screen closed at night). There aren't a lot of mosquitos, but there are some.

“Great Place in a great location”

Let's start at the beginning, Getting to the house. Use the directions that are sent to you from the management company. You will find that there are no street name signs on the roads so until you get use to the island the maps are pretty worthless. Fortunately the house is only about 15 minutes away and just off the main road from the airport.

The house is in a gated community with a guard there 24 x 7 and they will have the keys and info for you if you arrive when the office is closed. The house itself is one of the nicest ones in the complex and as far as we could tell the only one with its own pool, which was great for taking quick dips to cool off.

You enter the house thru the first set of glass doors. The smaller door near the driveway is bolted down from the inside so the key will work but the door will not open until you take deadbolts off from the inside. When you first enter the house it will be very warm since it has been closed up. First thing to do is open both of the sliding glass doors and open all the window shades to cool the house down. Only the bedrooms have AC and will not help cool down the Living room/ Kitchen area so do not use the AC other than to cool down the bedroom which they do fairly quickly. Also remember that you will be paying for the electric at the end of your stay and electricity in Curacao is not cheap. Think $50 to $100 depending on how much you use it.

The two bathrooms were great with large showers (no tubs) and had plenty of towels for us.

The bedrooms were also a good size and the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. There were only the two of us so we did not use any of the other beds.

The kitchen was fully supplied with dishes, utensils and everything you will need. There is a combo oven/microwave that worked very well. The fridge, dishwasher and washer also were easy to use. There is no dryer but there is a hanging rack that works great out in the sun. There is a large food store on the main road from the airport that is open until 7:30 at night (5:00 on Sunday). You can pay in USD or credit cards. There is also a bank ATM at the store.

Because the living room/kitchen is not air conditioned it can get hot in there during the middle of the day and into the evening even with everything open. We found staying out on the porch under the roof worked well because of the nice breeze. There are plenty of comfortable chairs and that is also where the dining room table is.

The pool was great. Very clean and refreshing. Only thing to remember is that there is no fence around the pool so watch the little ones carefully if you brought them along.

So the only two negatives we had was that the living room gets warm early and does not cool down quickly so if you want to watch TV you may be uncomfortable. The other is that there are mosquitos on the island and with the glass doors open and some of the windows not having screens they will get in. Use plenty of bug spray on yourself.

We enjoyed the house and would recommend it to our friends.

Enjoy

Thank you Mr. Shaffer for your nice review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much in our villa.
Due to the rather high electricity prices it is very uncommon on Curacao to have air-conditioning in the living room. For the comfort of our guests we have a large floor fan, which can be used while sitting inside or working in the kitchen. We are working on an extra television and connection in the master bedroom, so there will be a possibility to watch television in an air-conditioned room. Unfortunately, this was not possible yet during your stay.

Thank you again for your nice words and we hope to welcome you again in the future!!

The location was central. Neighbors were friendly. Definitely rent a car if you plan to leave the villa and see the island, which I highly recommend. Ants and mosquitos were an issue, but we solved that with ant spray, citronella candles, and tons of bug spray. Pool was nice and clean. Sunday's are off days for the island so don't expect to do much. Roosters are quite loud in the mornings so make sure you close the shutters tight (to keep mosquitos out too - maybe they will have screens on all the windows?). No problems with noise overall (that weren't from nature). Would definitely return!

Good to hear that you liked your stay in our villa. You were one of our very first guests in February, as we only started renting out in January. Due to a problem the mosquito net was missing in the master bedroom, but by now all bedroom windows are provided with mosquito nets.
Thank you for your review and we hope to see you back in time!
