Livingstone is a ok resort with ok prices for curaçao understandings (not a cheap island) Its not luxury bud has everything what you need especially when you are with children. The beach near bye has 4 beach clubs and caracasbaai is not far away so there is plenty to do. The only advice what i give you about this resort is to take the some more expensive apartment that has a airco in the bedroom AND LIVINGROOM, It was to hot in the living room of our apartment! I see some negative reviews about the service and i can't say much about it because we only had our night rest there and the rest we did some place else (eating, drinking, sitting on the beach and enjoying the rest of the island)

Room Tip: apartment at the front of the resort so you don't have to walk up and down every day, and if you want to sleep a little longer don't take a apartment with pool view ;)

Let's face it, Curacao is not a cheap place to spend your holiday. So if you can find a reasonably priced apartment near the beach, the more you can spend on overpriced cocktails on the same beach. Livingstone is a family-oriented place, with several types of apartments in different price categories. We stayed in a Montana apartment with 3 pp, on the first floor. Or to avoid confusion, NOT groundfloor. Nice view over the gardens and a much larger outdoors area than the terrace below. The amenities were fine, but nothing luxurious. The right amount of supplies in the kitchen, a large bathroom, aircon in the bedroom and a variety of international channels on TV. The lack of luxury is in the details; the bath/shower leaked a tiny bit, the furniture looked a bit tired, the service is almost non-existent. We weren't bothered by this at all.

Like previous reviewers have mentioned, skip the hotel breakfast. Instead drive 15min to a local supermarket where you can buy all the groceries you need. The Albert Heijn supermarket just outside the resort is horrendously expensive.
There will be some mosquitoes in the evening, but hey this is the subtropics. We just burned some citronella candles and used a repellant.

Keep in mind that these types of midrange resorts are very price-sensitive. So do your homework upfront and compare various places and prices for the season you plan to travel. If Livingstone comes out on top, you won't regret it.

I have stayed at this hotel for about 5 nights, it all depends what you are looking for,
Nobody will be at the reception after 20:00 in the evening and before 8:00 in the morning,
The breakfast is also served only after 8:00 and is very poor both in service & in content,

Need help from the front desk? forget it , because the phone in the apt doesnt work most of the time.

Want a clean room? you have to fill in a sheet to ask that they will clean the room.

Dont expect any good service of this place.

We stayed at Livingstone for 2 weeks. The small chalets have all the basic needs, fan, aircon, new fridge and TV and a nice swimmingpool.

Some people are more service minded than others at the main reception...but I guess you will find that everywhere you go.

We didn't want to spend to much un unnecessary luxury so this was a good please in the end.

Stayed here for two weeks from 19th October 2012 in a Rif Azul apartment. Large sitting, dining kitchen, bedroom with shower room and a separate toilet, with a full width balcony outside. The accommodation was clean and perfectly big enough for two; four would have found it a bit of a squeeze, even if they were children. No double beds, though they put twins together, but duvets are European singles, two to the bed.
The resort is really a collection of apartments and villas, many of which are owned. Very pleasant gardens with places to park your car near your villa. The resort was quiet, despite being half term in the Netherlands as well as UK.. The pool is very nice, with plenty of beds and parasols. However, the restaurant is really no better than a snack bar (though the food is perfectly edible). We had breakfast included, which could take up to half an hour to arrive, even though we had the same every day: juice, coffee, omelette (with one slice of bacon), pancake, a slice each of processed cheese and ham and a bowl of yoghurt and fresh fruit; accompanied by a basket of toast, rolls, croissant and pain chocolat.
The hotel staff generally give the impression that you are interrupting what they are doing, except the lady who served breakfast. All the information about the hotel services is in Dutch, not a huge problem as there aren't many, just a little convenience store and a car rental office. The do have fee interest access through a laptop in reception and will print off your boarding pass for the return journey.
The beach is five minutes walk away, with loungers and a nice bay to swim in. Wouldn't want to spend much time there in the height of season as you'd be cheek by jowl, but there are several restaurants, a casino and some shops in a complex that is still developing. The dive centre is also here.
I'm beginning to sound negative, which isn't fair, we had a great two weeks and the place suited us perfectly. If you are intending using the place as a base to travel, or dive as we did, then is it perfectly adequate. If you are looking for a hotel with a good restaurant, willing staff and a bit of an atmosphere in the bar at night, look elsewhere.
