“terrible, not worth the money we spent.”

This resort is awful. Bugs. smell, rude waiters and always looking for their tips. The more you tipped the better the service you could receive. Food always the same, deep fried and alot of sugar added. The resort is in agood location beautiful beaches. Entertainment really needs improving had better in a 3+ resort in Santa Lucia a few years ago. The tables in the dinning room always dirty and cushions on most furniture was dirty. Birds in the dinning room that where picking food off of peoples plates, so make sure you do not leave your food unattended. Cockroaches in dinning room also. I could go on forever with the comments. This resort in my books is 3 not a 5. The best hot meal we received was on the plane. Sunwing was great to fly with,but the vacation really does suck.

Room Tip: ask for the villas they seem to be better then the main building

Dear guests,
It is with great regret that we read your comments as we can notice that you did not fully enjoy your holidays at our resort.
We have taken note of your comments and we have contacted the company in charge of fumigation so that proper actions are taken immediately. Sometimes harmless bugs can be found on the hotel areas mostly attracted by sweet fragrances, as soon as the company comes, this will be solved.
We are already immersing on a renovation process which will include the main areas decorations and furniture. We regret if the presence of birds in the restaurants disturbs you, we always try to keep them away from the dining rooms but they squeeze in through the doors that remain open when clients come in and out of the restaurant. We are already working on getting a better way to keep them out without getting hurt in any way. Usually we offer a wide variety of services in order to please most of our guests likes, we apologize this was not your case, we hope you give us a second chance to provide a better holiday and show you that all has been part of an unusual events at our resort.

Feb 22 -29, 2012
Walls, ceilings and all wood work in the room is moldy and VERY musty smelling.
We were in 1239 the first night and I would have rather slept on the sidewalk. Two single beds pushed together, hair on the bathroom floor, cold and EXTREMLY damp.
Moved to 6122 the next morning and stayed there for the rest of the trip. Mold was still everywhere but not as musty smelling. Cleaned the toilet seat myself and was glad I brought Lysol spray with me. Two hot showers for the whole week, the rest were cool.
Staff were friendly but spoke MINIMAL english. waiters in al la carte restaurants spoke NO English.
WARNING this is not a four star.....AT ALL! It compares to a two star in Mexico.
hotel and beach employees were very aggressive about asking for handouts. They wanted the soap and shampoo from your room, clothes, and things for their babies.
maids did minimal cleaning. On day four our coasters on the counter where moldy yet she continued to place the "clean" drinking glass back on them.
The mini bar is a JOKE, one water per day, one can beer, one sprite and one coke. We asked for more beer everyday and never got any.
games at the pool were lame, no one participated. The prizes were a cooler of cans of beer which were handed out by the staff to the staff when no one participated. Then they hid behind the bush and drank them!
The 24 hour snacks are a tray of non refrigerated sandwiches sitting on a table in the lobby bar in two small glass dome cake trays.
Birds and cats everywhere, lobby, restaurants and outside.
Hot tub (not hot) was only open for two days. Pool bar only open two days as well. due to renovations. so they are trying but this is not a 4 star.
The beach was beautiful. Water is clear and snorkeling was amazing.
Beach chairs are old and worn out.
Would never go back here. EVER!

Room Tip: 6122 was on the second floor over looking the pool. Moldy but not as bad as main floor in main buil...

Thank you for letting us know about your holidays at our resort. We are really sorry to know that you have not enjoyed your vacations here with us.
We really regret that you faced problems with the first room assigned, we are on a process of full renovation to be given to some rooms and this one is included among them. It is with surprise that we read your comments regarding the incidents at the restaurant and the beach as we have not received any reports on this regards before. We have taken note of your comments and will look into this matter so that no other clients have these issues.
Being a tropical country we have non dangerous animals in the surroundings that we always try to keep away from the resort and mainly from the restaurants, by doing this we also try to keep all the sanitary measures to be followed by a resort sometimes causing disagreements with some animals lovers who like to interact with them.
We are glad that you had a good time at the beach and snorkeling.
We hope you can come back to Meliá Las Antillas again very soon and give us a second chance to erase all the things were not pleasant for you.

This was our 7 trip to Melia , we have found what works for us . Food is better than ok (bring black pepper and hot sauce ) . Hotel and facilities may be a bit dated but they were working hard to freshen up . Lots of painting and renovating were happening . Big overhaul of the buffet was noticed . Few glitches with toasters and blenders but improvements are obvious . Beach is still big big plus with clean white sand and teal water. Our biggest draw is the kindness , friendship and hospitality of the staff . Henry,Pavel,Maria,Teri et al of the entertainment crew not only keep us entertained but welcome us to their family . Michel Angelo keeps us very safe and happy at the beach and Ivan,Raul,Yunesky,Roman.Amily,Leo keep our glasses full and our hugs aplenty . To the staff , for you , we will be back

We are really happy to know that you liked the food we offered. As you well stated our maintenance personal is undertaking some renovation programs and working hard on it. Regarding the Buffet, recently we changed all the equipment there and replaced it for new tables in order to improve the quality of our service.
It is a pleasure for us to know that you were really satisfied with the hospitality and friendship of our staff. We will let them know that you were really pleased with their service and that you are thinking about coming back to visit us feeling part of our big family too.

We just returned 2 weeks ago from this hotel which was fabulous...super clean, the food was good and the service was A-1. We could not have asked for a more beautiful setting, nicer staff or better beaches. We had heard not to expect much in Cuba but this place exceeded all our expectations. Our room looked over the gardens, was quiet and we had piles of fresh towels, toilettries, never a lack of hot water and the maid made sure we had a restocked frig daily. From arrival to departure, we had no complaints. The couple of vendors that were on the beach did not approach people, but rather were friendly and showed their wares if guests on the beach approached them. We have spent time in St. Maarten, in multiple places in Mexico, the Bahamas, the Florida keys, four Cruises, Europe and across both Canada and the U.S. THIS PLACE HAD THE BEST SERVICE OF ANYWHERE. In fact it was so good, that we just recommended it to our daughter and friends who have gone down there this week and are reportedly having a great time. If we had to look for any downfall, it may be a bit of tile work on various trims and in the hot tub (which was not hot).However, this was more than made up for by the cappucinos and drinks (which were definitely not watered down) and the nightly entertainment. Our dining room staff, Otoneil and Marielys were amazing and knew by Day 2 how we took our teas, coffees and what wine we wanted. We are already looking forward to another chance to get to Melia Las Antilles.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor are at garden level and walk out to dining, the pool and beach paths. We had 1...

Stayed at this resort from Feb.6 to 20 and had a great time. Little problem getting the room we wanted when booking in. First few days the food at the buffet wasn't replenished fast enough so had empty containers but improved later, We had excellent service at the buffet from Mairelys and Otoniel - they always had our table saved with flowers on it. Found the place very clean. Always somebody helping you at the beach with chairs. Hope to return here next year.

Room Tip: Enjoyed the ground floor facing the pool area.
