“Our 2nd time here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2012

We married at the bougainvillea feb 2010 and then returned the following feb with our then 5 and 3 year old. We were staying in a 1 bedroom studio. Last year we got the deluxe room so I wondered how much more basic the room would be. We werent disappointed at all and actually preferred this room. The only difference was there wasnt a proper dining table (a breakfast bar) but still a 4 seater table and chairs set on the balcony. We still had a sea view and the balcony was twice the size as it went across to the bedroom too so there were sunloungers. We cannot fault this hotel, its immaculate. I did write in my last review that the reception staff were grumpy and slow, maybe they read my review, but this visit they were so helpful and friendly. Lanterns service can be a little slow but the food is lovely, especially the 1/4 pounder with hickory smoked cheese and fries. The surf can be a little rough at times but we had 3 smooth days where I could carry my daughter in and jump the little waves. The beach is just beautiful and with the kids it was so easy just to flit from beach to pool and vice versa. We hired boogie boards too, my little girl loved it! We hired a car for a day too and fed turtles down at Oistins. The weather is perfect, there is a constant breeze to cool you down. Dont bother with half baord, the island is full of great restaurants and the same if not slightly cheaper than Europe. We didnt drink too much with having kids so small but we went to Triple b supermarket and stocked up on beers. We love barbados, I would go every year if we could. I cant recommment this hotel and the island enough, it gets under your skin. Beautiful beaches, fantastic weather, gorgeous food, great hotel. There are lots of days out too (if you dont have little ones to spoil it!). Our kids went to the kids club twice for half a day, only $20 and they loved it. Book here, you wont be disappointed

Room Tip: 2nd floor and we got 1 bed suite, you can see the beach when you are sitting on the balcony. Perfect...

We just returned from an amazing week in Barbados. The view from our one bedroom suite was out of this world. We had a huge veranda overlooking the pool and beach. There were birds waiting for us every morning for a snack. The room was very comfortable, with everything we needed and more. It was great to be able to prepare some of our meals in the room - food on the island is very expensive. The beach is beautiful, the water colors amazing. Water sports are available through the resort and there is entertainment almost every night. The restaurant food was just okay, but the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort! The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, and the location was gorgeous. The resort is right on the beach, and there are plenty of chairs for guests to use. The water sports were a lot of fun, there is a free stand-up paddle board for guest use as well as free boogie boards and other equipment. The staff will facilitate jet ski rides for $60 (in cash) with a local jet ski owner, which was tons of fun.

Also, the front desk is extremely helpful with almost anything. They recommended a great snorkel tour (Jammin) and restaurant at St Lawrence Gap (Pisces).

The pool area isn't very big (and I can imagine it would get crowded if the resort is very busy), but the pool bar was a lot of fun and the bartenders were friendly. The restaurant on property was competitively priced for the island (most things on the island were similarly priced to the US) and the food was very good for both dinner and breakfast.

My husband and I wanted a quiet weekend get-away (September 1-3, 2012) from the everyday routine and we chose Bougainvillea. We felt at home and welcomed by the staff throughout our stay. The beaches are fantastic and we totally enjoyed the entertainment.
The food at the restaurant was ok not fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, needing some TLC.

Kayla

We spent 4 glorious weeks in August at Bougainvillea. The view from our 2 bedroom deluxe suite was fantastiic, it was simply devine waking up to that ocean view. It had a wonderful decked area where we had breakfast every morning and simply gazed at the ocean. The resident birds are a delight to watch diving to catch their breakfast. We chose a 2 bedroom suite as our children are teenagers. We are frequent travellers worldwide but always seems to gravitate to Barbados for our summer holidays. Bougainvillea being a firm favourite hotel of ours as the staff are just the best, always helpful and friendly. We are just amazed by their cheery disposition despite working really hard in the scorching caribbean sunshine.

Our suite was serviced daily, clean towels, beds made and housekeeping even washed our dishes for us. This suited me as there was nothing left for me to do!!

The children were certainly occupied with lots of activities and not a boring moment to be had. They played tennis over at the tennis courts, hung out some times in the games room with their friends which is so well equipped with various games to play, lots of water sports (big mabel being a firm favourite). and lots more.

In the evenings the hotel provided lots of free entertainment and a new addition this year was 'movie night' which involed a big outdoor screen with lots of pop corn. We also thoroughly enjoyed listening to Kimberley who sang every Saturday evening whilst we dined in Lanterns restaurant. The food at lanterns was great and the prices quite affordable. Other evenings when we wanted something different we went to the Gap which has lots of different cuisines, or sometimes Oistens Fish Fry which is next door to the fish market where fresh fish is landed daily.

Our children made lots of friends and they spent a lot of their time in the Sand acres pool and we felt so relaxed as we always knew where they were and they were certanly safe there. I'm quite surprised that the previous review thought the pool 'unsafe' as not one child mentioned getting a shock in that pool.

Like most places if you focus on minute details rather than the bigger picture you will always be disappointed in life.

Bougainvillea ,see you next year and a big thank you to al their staff for helping to create such cherished memories for our children.

Room Tip: depending on your needs the rooms around the pool bar are more lively but if your want tranquility c...
