“Cosy weekend in The Bike Shed”
Reviewed 20 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Had a wonderful weekend away in the stunning camarthonshire, beautiful walks and great beaches for both walkers and muddy paws, The Bike Shed was small but fully equipped with a lovely decor. The night sky was a star gazers paradise so my husband was a very happy man. Our only frustration was the Wi-Fi and the fact we could not
Connect any of our 4 devices, this would have helped us greatly in planning our days.overall a very relaxing weekend.

So pleased you and your dogs enjoyed your stay Sue & Glenn. And thank you for your lovely report and photos posted on our Facebook page! As we were away ourselves we had no idea there was a problem with the wifi until you mentioned it in this review. We did leave a number for you to contact us on in the event of any problem and we would have reported a fault to BT immediately had we known. I do hope it didn't spoil your stay too much. For those reading this, being in the rural location we are in, our broadband will probably never be fast but it does usually work, especially as BT have just replaced 500m of cable on mountain. I will be on to them like a shot to see what the problem was.

“Magical countryside - Well thought of cosy Bike shed”
Reviewed 10 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Stayed at this beautiful place with my boyfriend and two retrievers. Best place I have ever stayed in the countryside. Scenic views from the cottage. Surpised by how much there is to do in carmarthenshire, walks/ country parks/ cosy pubs/ bike trails. Highly recommend the forest arms -great food! The old bike shed is very pretty it has been well thought out and I loved the idea of climbing a ladder getting into bed. Recommend Nikki's cooking. If your there, hire the bikes out from Mud Treks, great ride although very tiring. The only minor negative would be.. It would have been lovely to find some complementary tea bags/sugar and milk for when we arrived but aside from that Nikki was very accommodating and welcoming. Definitely be returning.
Thanks for having us guys!

Thank you Amber & Ben - you were perfect guests. You certainly packed a lot in on your weekend with us! As always we're so pleased to hear our guests have enjoyed themselves. For another time, if you are ever short of basic supplies such as tea, coffee, milk - just give us a shout and we will pop some in. I know Ben is interested in one of our fully catered, guided MTB weekends with our sister business MudTrek Mountain Bike Breaks - for your info (and for anyone reading this) all basic supplies are included on one of these breaks (tea, coffee, milk, sugar, orange juice, bread, butter, jam, cereals, porridge & muesli) - not to mention a full cooked breakfast each day plus packed lunches and 2 course evening meals. As self-caterers though I'm really pleased you chose to order one of my meals and enjoyed! Come back soon guys - and bring those gorgeous dogs with you too :)

“The perfect getaway weekend!”
Reviewed 9 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We booked a short break, Friday to Monday for our anniversary weekend with our 7 & 8 month old Cocker Spaniels. We stayed in the Bay Tree Barn which is a 2 bedroomed cottage.

Nikki kept in touch before our break, sending us information and directions beforehand however due to our complete lack of sense of direction (the directions given were perfect we are just not very good at following them!!) meant we ended up arriving at 10.30pm instead of 9.45pm. We had ordered a home cooked meal from Nikki and although we were arriving very late we had a delicious, warm meal ready once we had settled in.

The cottage is beautiful, we loved the decor and layout, it was perfect for us and even had room for our 2 dog crates in the living room area. The bed was also very comfortable. The garden is a lovely size for the dogs and I can imagine how lovely summer evenings are here. The central heating alone keeps the cottage warm however we took advantage of the log burner too which just added to the comfort.

Nikki's food is delicious, I would highly recommend it. It makes the weekend more relaxing not having to cook and it was all perfectly timed and tasted lovely.

The information available in the cottage is extensive, we decided to go on a few different walks from the cottage which Nikki provided information on for us and they were so lovely and peaceful. On Saturday morning Nikki went through the local information with us which was really helpful.

There were people in the cottage next door but we weren't ever disturbed, it really is very peaceful.

The views are stunning, it was a lovely surprise in the morning having arrived in the dark.

I don't have anything bad to say, Nikki was very welcoming and friendly, we briefly met her husband on the Sunday and he seems lovely too. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone, with or without dogs.

We will definitely be returning in the near future.

“Quirky, cute cottage”
Reviewed 1 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

Myself and my partner, and our border collie, stayed at the Old Bike Shed this weekend. It is a cool and cute little cottage, with everything you need for a relaxing break. It is a perfect location for beautiful forest walks and stunning beaches. We didn't get to sample the home cooked food :-( but the chocolate cake Nikki baked for our arrival was delicious :-) We also loved the Brechfa Forest Arms and would recommend eating here during your stay. We hope to return sometime (although its tricky finding a free weekend now..unsurprisingly it is a busy business!). The weather was cold and windy, which took us by surprise, but the hot showers certainly helped to warm us up!

“Relaxation for the soul.”
Reviewed 27 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

I have just returned from a weekend at the forest Barns and feel truly rejuvenated. This is my second visit to the barns and will not be the last. The accommodation has been beautifully and rustically designed and together with the outstanding surroundings truly is an escape for any man or beast. Nikki and Jason, are faultless hosts and immediately make you feel at home. They really are on to a winner!
