“Relaxing holiday with all the comforts”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

We travelled to Bali in January 2012 and stayed at the Grand Mirage Resort in Nusa Dua for two weeks. We found the resort had lots to offer for a family. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help out. Winnie our housemaid was exceptional. She did a wonderful job in keeping our suite clean and tidy and went to a lot of trouble to ensure that everything was in order. Although eating at the resort was a little expensive, the quality of food was acceptable. We didn't like the road leading to our hotel, it was very narrow and needed repair. This made "walking down the street" very difficult and dangerous at times. I used the spa facilities at the resort and I would rate it exceptional. Although the prices may seem a little expensive to begin with, however, if you compare it to what you get in Australia for the same money, it's not expensive at all. We had a mixed up with one of our rooms when we arrived and after a few hours of waiting in the lobby we opted to pay the $600 difference for the suite which we booked and our paperwork proved we booked. Would we stay there again? Perhaps not, I would be more inclined to stay at one of the resorts at Bali Collections.

Dear Mr. / Mrs. Chintz

Thank you for your comments. We do value them immensely and use them in our constant stride to improve our guest’s experiences. Your compliment about one of our housekeeping staff will be passed on to.

Addressing the issues you mentioned about the road, the local Balinese Government is constantly striving to improve infrastructure. Our engineering is also involved in maintaining the walkway directly in front of our hotel, as well we have security guards 24 hours positioned at our entrances to ensure the safety of our guest when they cross the roads.
About the spa prices, we assign an international 5 star standard, featuring with an aqua medic pool as well as 16 uniquely designed treatment rooms and internationally trained Spa therapist.

Please note that our standard check in time is 2 p.m. Of course we always try our best to assign the rooms as soon our guest arrive, since we understand that you may be very tired after a long flight to Bali. Could you email me personally to mail@grandmirage.com, in regards to the waiting in the lobby? This is so I could investigate and find out what happened.

Best Regards,
Juan Antonio Sanchez, General Manager at Grand Mirage Resort

We stayed here for a friends wedding and decided to go for the all inclusive package, which was probably a bit overpriced but nice to have everything in from drinks at the pool bar to room service.

Although the hotel isn't brand new I found it to be well maintained, although several in our group had to switch rooms for issues such as damp, our room was fine.

The one thing that I really didn't like was the other guests, who were mostly Australians on family holudays, if that's you then great, otherwise if you are a couple etc. I'd stay well away as this place is like a nursery by the beach, with kids screaming and running around all day & night - not relaxing at all.

Add to this the fact that a lot of people are getting free drinks and are drunk throughout the day - on my first day within 5 minutes a really drunk Australian tried to bite me in the pool!

Certainly not the 5* clientele.

Nice place... A little bit far from Kuta, but the hotel is very great! They have a private beach for sunbathing but not for swimming or surfing! The hotel is a little bit old but the room was very good and the bathroom is so clean too...

My family have just returned from the Grand Mirage after a fabulous 6 night stay there. Second trip to Bali but this time half the cost of comparable hotel in Nusa Dua. This place was a great find and the service was great from start to end. We did the 'all inclusive' package and it is very well worth it, our food experiences were great, especially with kids who loved the Buffett dinners and our lunch most days at Jukung Grill was senstationally tasty, and quick, and a special mention about 'Gun' whom was so friendly and personable even remembering our kids names each day.....

All in all would def come back again, yes only problem is the sun chair hogging, they need to sort that out.....as we started doing the same as we realized if we didn't stake a chair we would be out of luck all day long, which is a bit annoying......but overall great quality, great service and budget friendly.

Room Tip: Ocean view suite is fabulous

I traveled to the Grand Mirage with my Partner on 29th March 2012 for one week, we were meeting my family from Austraila at the Grand Mirage.

After a very long flight from the UK, (approx 20 hrs).

We booked the all inclusive package which included transfers to and from the airport so you can imagine after a long flight we just wanted to get to our transport and of to the hotel to meet my family.

We landed slightly later than planned and after finally collecting out luggage and visa's we walked outside to find no transport was waiting for us, I looked for out for our name for about half an hour, but at this point I was getting slightly angry. We managed to find the information desk at the hotel and the lady behind the desk kindly rang our hotel for us and the hotel suggested we got a taxi, so we did. We finally reached the hotel and they refunded us the taxi cost. So all sorted, but wasn't going to let it spoil the start of the holiday.

We checked in and were taken to our room, cases soon followed with the hotel porter, the room was lovely and over looked the ocean, the room was plenty big enough for the two of us, my family from Australia were given the room next door there were four of them and their family room was huge. Our fridge in the room was stocked daily with juices, coke, fanta beer and water.
Rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels are supplied twice daily even with a turn down service in the evenings.

We were very impressed with the food, I would defiantly recommend the food at the beach bar, food was also good in the hotel restaurant, breakfast is amazing, they cater for every nationality.

We ordered room service a couple of times and this arrived very quickly and piping hot.

We were kindly invited to the managers cocktail party on one of the evenings at the hotel, where we met the head chef and other members of staff.

We did a few trips while we were in Bali , I would defiantly recommend the Elephant Safari (prepare for an early start that day you are picked up from the hotel about 7.30-8.00 am), it takes about 2 hrs to get there, but well worth the journey. We also visited The Monkey Temple and Monkey Forest, all good fun.

The pool is very clean and the beach area is lovely plenty of sun beds and trees if you would rather be under the shade.
There are plenty of water sports you can take part in at the beach.

When I booked the hotel I secured a late check out until 6pm, but on our last day we decided to go and talk to one of the guest managers to try and extend the room until 8pm, we had a late flight back to the UK that evening and my family from Australia had an even later flight the early hours of the following morning. After talking to the guest manager for about an hour we managed to secure the room until 7pm, but was shocked to find out he wanted to cut of our all inclusive wrist bands off at midday that day, I was horrified, I don't expect to pay for food and drinks until we left, after all we had paid for all inclusive, all inclusivity started the minute we arrived so this should end the minute we check out the hotel...... After further "talking" we were allowed to order food and drinks upto 6pm. My advise here is to get this clarified before you leave home to avoid disappointment when you get there.

Even having a couple of hiccups we still had a great holiday and would return back to The Grand Mirage.
You will have a great time. : )

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the ocean.

Dear Mr / Mrs.Daisy

First of all, Thank you for your time in writing your comment about your visit to Grand Mirage Resort. Grand Mirage Resort team is glad that you enjoyed your experience with us.

Regarding your comment about the airport transfer, I would like apologize very much for any inconvenience. If requested, it is our standard procedure to input flight details into our system and for our bell service to pick up on time. Even for slight delays they should be waiting. I will investigate to our reservations team and make sure that such a case does not happen again.

Thank you for your advice about our all inclusive package. Comments like these are a great value and help us to keep improving our service in the resort. In regards to the late check out, if it has been booked before, based on our all inclusive pricing, than it is our standard procedure to provide the all inclusive such as meals and drinks accordingly until check out. Thus, I believe that you have booked the late check out for room only, and therefore we needed to cut your wrist band. Please contact me personally, so that we may clear up where the mistake happened.

I will transmit your comment to my staff to keep on the great job and keep providing the excellent serving we are striving for.Looking forward to welcoming you again in our property.

Kindly Regards,
Juan Antonio Sanchez, General Manager at Grand Mirage Resort
