“Beautiful property, luxury stay”
Reviewed 31 December 2016

We spent a night and 3 meals at this lovely place with friends - they had a beachfront room and our was facing the garden. Both were extremely comfortable - what a marvelous bed! I slept better than in weeks. Staff were attentive without fuss, and the meals were all a very high standard. Some local walks, not too strenuous. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All rooms quiet and accessibly, you pay more for beach view, but garden view very good

We spent a very enjoyable few days here during our honeymoon in Dec 2015 and cannot recommend it enough. Lovely place, staff and food. Great outdoors options and plenty to do. The only thing that would have made it better would be to introduce complimentary breakfasts, as the food (even though it was the highest quality) was quite expensive and as there isn't anywhere else to eat, you don't have any other option and it does become expensive. The private transfer by boat, car, boat is worth the money and gets you there super quick. I would love to stay here again.

Staff were great, food was great and a very relaxing place to be, weather was shocking but still plenty of things to do outdoors even in heavy rain, the staff will go the extra mile to make sure you are having a great time down there - rooms are a little dated and that's the only negative comment I can make

We were staying here when we experienced our first ever earthquake. We were perfectly safe but a bit unnerved. This was a unique experience not offered to everyone walking the Queen Charlotte Track!! Fabulous food and luxurious accommodation and facilities. Don't miss booking a massage with Juli - she's one of the best.

We travelled for a weekend of recovery after a hectic six months at work. I did not want to leave! We took the two day stay deal that included breakfast and the evening meal. This was such good value. The food was delicious and fresh and honest. The sea air makes you hungry. We walked up the hill behind the lodge for the view and sat at the top listening to the birds seemingly no one else for miles! We used the bikes to cycle 5 km down the road ( and back) taking photographs of the amazing views a every turn. We rested, drank fine wine and had a massage that ironed out all our kinks.

We drove to Te Mahia and Bruce met us in the boat. This saved a lot of driving and next time I would probably take the water taxi from Havelock as the road in was winding. Teas and coffees are available in your room and we don't like UHT milk so reception provided us with jugs of real milk for our coffee! It was early season with only 4 couples in house but with only 14 rooms and full staff of 14 plus at high season you will not be disappointed. I want to return when the water is warmer!

Room Tip: We enjoyed seaside room with a view of the bay.
