At La Closerie I had the best meal I have had in France for twenty years.
It is open from Friday until Sunday each week. It’s also well off the beaten track so plan your route carefully: we went with friends who have been several times before.
For Sunday lunch there wasn’t a menu as such, but a choice of main dish. There were four perfectly balanced courses. The Chef has thought very carefully about the balance of flavours and each dish complemented the former so well.
The entrées were a gazpacho, beautiful on a hot day, followed by a hummus with ground lamb.
I chose fish for the main and it was a piece of hake on a bed of aubergine caviar and green beans. The delicate flavours from the fish were sensational.
Dessert outstanding.
I cannot recommend this place enough for a first class gourmet experience.
Wonderful, friendly bilingual staff who were attentive and helpful.
First class in the truest sense.
