the managing staff is unfriendly. Food price is high and quality is poor. The house wines are overpriced. There seem to be two swimming pools. One is miniature, we were unable to locate the second one. The acces road is very very bumpy.

nice location, really good service. it was a great experience... especially the combination of Addo Safari and Schotia Private Game Reserve Safari. But do not both Safaris at the same day and follow the route advise by Hitgeheim and not the by your navigation system...

We spent 3 nights at Hitgeheim Country Lodge as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers). The accommodation was perfect, being in a gorgeous thatched cottage with 2 intercommunicating rooms. We both had large rooms with baths, showers and (a lovely touch) outside showers, and private terraces. Air con was great. The location is perfect, with great views over a valley of citrus farms. The service was pleasant, with especial thanks to Ronel and Peter. The highlight was our safari ride in Addo with the charming and amazingly knowledgeable Steven. The breakfasts on the terrace were very good.
We had 2 dinners at the Lodge, and the quality of food was good, but we found it a little difficult with 'fussy' teenagers who would have preferred a bit more choice in the menu. All together a great experience, particularly the game drive, and the lovely rooms with private terraces.

Excellent accommodation in small lodges set high above the surrounding countryside. Family owned and excellent service. The game drives were very good and the guides were knowledgable and informative.
