Visited here today to support a rescue centre, was absolutely appalled by the cramped conditions the animals were kept in, large rabbits in cramped rotten hutches, pigs knee deep in small enclosure, aviary birds over crowded, I know some of the animals have dodged the meat trade and are rescued, but to be fair free range meat pigs are kept to a higher standard by law, there was a dead pigeon at the entrance where the chickens and geese roam, a goat with over grown hooves, I found it a sad place that needs a massive overhaul

So glad we ignored the bad reviews on here. We pulled on our wellies and took a trip to this little gem. Yes, it was muddy... it's a farm but it was certainly easy to get around.

We had a lovely time walking around meeting the animals, who all looked happy and very well cared for. The owner stopped to chat and passed us for feed for the animals. There is also a pond which you can walk around. Our 10 month old had a great time and I'm sure we will become regulars in years to come.

We rounded off our trip with a coffee and cake in the cafe, which were lovely and we will certainly be back to try the main meals which looked very appealing.

We visited Mistley Place Park Animal Rescue Centre for the first time today and witnessed first hand one of the largest displays of dedication, commitment and devotion to the care of neglected and suffering animals that we have ever seen.
We spoke to the elderly gentleman that has, along with his wife, dedicated almost 30 years so far to this animal sanctuary and the wellbeing of every animal living there. We sensed and felt his frustrations that seem to be holding this place back to a certain extent facility wise, however these places require constant revenue to be able to survive never mind giving the public the luxuries they feel they are entitled to for their meagre £3 entrance fee.
This is not a day out at the zoo, it is quite simply an opportunity for a couple of hours to give something back to animal welfare and help an elderly couple to continue their passion of homing and caring for helpless and neglected animals, which quite clearly in some instances would not be alive today if it were not for them.
Children will love it because children do not judge the quality of the facilities nor the cleanliness of the park, they will mostly just love to see and feed the animals. It is a small farm park where all the animals seem genuinely happy to see you (admittedly the bag of food in my hand was probably the real reason), although Izzy, one of the Alpacas, was trying to kiss me at one point.
We spent the first 10 or 15 minutes hand feeding the geese before we realised they were all wild geese that had decided this was such a lovely place to live they had moved in, and then fed the 3 Shetland ponies, Digby the donkey, a big fat sheep and a couple of goats before taking a walk around the lake surrounded by a small woodland. There were also pigs, chickens and rabbits available to see and feed.
There is a tearoom on site which offers a good variety of hot and cold food and drinks of a good standard.
All in all it was a very pleasant experience that has helped restore a little faith back in humanity and I would highly recommend a visit here, especially if you have young children or are an animal lover.

Could not wait to leave this dirty shabby place. The animals did not look happy. The sheds and pens were falling apart and cramped. Made us feel very sad.
