“Excellent holiday cottage for two”
Reviewed 15 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Perfect location in Monyash in the Derbyshire Peak District with plenty of walks close by. Well appointed cottage with lovely comfortable bed and huge bathroom. We were here in cold damp February but cottage central heating is very efficient plus log burning stove makes it extremely cosy. We will be back.

“cosy, comfortable cottage”
Reviewed 4 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Monyash is a superb location for a relaxing break. There are many excellent walks in the area and great cycling too.Lots of other attractions in the area too.
The pub in the village is great, with good food.
The cottage has everything you could possibly need. The wood burner helps to make it seem even copier if you are there in the winter. The owners have thought of everything you might need - so no need to think about what you need to take. Christmas they even put up a tree with lights and lots of other Christmassy treats for you on arrival.

“Great cosy stay”
Reviewed 20 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Really quaint cosey cottage just as we imagined it to be. Decent kitchen with all the mod cons. The central heating worked well but for added ambience there was also a fire to light. Pretty garden and parking in front. Keys are easily accessible so you can arrive at any time. There is also a lovley pub nearby just two mintues walk with a cosy fire and if you dont have time for breakfast you can get a lovely breakfast of your choice next to the pub. There are great walks to go on from the cottage and beautiful places to visit by car like Buxton and Bakewell. Would definitely recommend this place.

Lovely comments from this guest about our cottage and also for the village pub/restaurant (The Bullshead), the Smithy Café for breakfasts. The local walks are from our doorstep and there are many scenic villages in the surrounding area.

“Beautiful cottage in a peaceful and relaxing setting”
Reviewed 14 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed at Avonlea Cottage for a short and much needed break. The cottage is beautifully maintained and well equipped. On top of this, the ambience of the cottage and the village, Monyash, is certainly peaceful and relaxing - and Monyash is home to a popular and friendly pub which is an excellent place to visit after a long walk.

One of the most beautiful walks takes you through Lathkill Date, which is in easy walking distance to the east of Monyash. The High Peak Trail / Tissington Trail is also an excellent place to walk. We did find the cycle hire centre but unfortunately couldn't fit bike hire into our walking schedule. We'll have to do this next time!

Monyash does not have a shop. However, the benefit is that we went into Bakewell which was well worth a visit. Use the bus, not a car. You can take advantage of the views when you are perched on high, and the return journey takes you through Over Haddon and the route is beautiful. Note: the timetable is by the phone box on Chapel Street, but the stop is actually some yards away in front of the pub.
