After issues we had in other park hotels, we were so thankful to finally check into a hotel that was clean and inviting. Glen at the front desk was so kind and helpful to me- I was really struggling on our trip from all the hotel issue we encountered. He was so pleasant and answered all my questions patiently. The rooms are rustic and clean- no dust anywhere! The beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet. It was nice to be within walking distance of the restaurant, gift shops and the giant trees if you are so inclined to walk up the hills.

Have stayed in perhaps a dozen National Park lodges. Would give this one an average rating. Nothing at all wrong, just nothing special except the location. In a world where location is all important, you can't do better than John Muir Lodge. Rooms do resemble something on par with a Best Western. Still, this is the perfect place from which to explore Sequoia and Kings Canyon. It is the best available lodging in the park. Loved both parks and this place served us well.

Restaurant is a 5 minute walkfrom the hotel or a one minute drive. Staff was excellent. Spent two nights at the lodge and everything worked.

We stayed two nights thi s past week. The place is very good, good location, rooms clean. Two small suggestions: If in summer get a room downstairs, away from parking lot. The rooms tend to be cooler and somewhat less noisy although the noise in front is not too bad. Second floor facing front gets PM sun. Also for foreign visitors: reserve in advance!! We saw a sad young European couple arrive and of course there was no space and no easy alternatives. Dining room food was good, again fine for a Park. The park is fantastic!!

This.National Park Lodge is a comfortable place to stay. It allows you to avoid long lines to enter the Park. The staff was very accommodating. There are not a lot of frills, and no actor internet in the rooms, but neither was a problem for us.

We spent a couple of Nights here on a road trip. The room was basic and we were offered a choice of two. The amenities were adequate but there was no ac only a fan. During the night we discovered the heating was on ( temp was 100+ at daytime)and was very noisy and we were unable to turn it off. Apologies from reception in the morning. Needed to be set at 55 to go off not at lowest mark where it was.

Convenient location allowed us to do Sequoia one day and Kings Canyon the next without repeating our route.
