We stayed here two nights and would do so again. The owners are absolutely delightful, friendly and kind. The Haiku Garden room was beautiful and very well appointed. As others have noted, there was fresh-baked banana bread in the room along with a basket of fresh fruit. The refrigerator was stocked with cheese, crackers, yogurt, juices, milk and sparkling water. A variety of snacks were also provided, as were earplugs for the occasionally barking dogs across the street. What I wish we had understood was the housekeeping policy. We have never stayed in a B&B, or any lodging, where the room wasn't serviced every day. When we returned from our visit to the park in the afternoon, we were shocked to see that the room had not been touched. The dirty breakfast dishes and coffee cups were still there. We did not understand that we were to ask for clean plates, cups and utensils, as well as more yogurt (or any other food items). As soon as we did, everything was delivered quickly! The philosophy (policy) is that the guests' privacy is to be respected. Totally. My advice is to STAY HERE but know what you are getting (or not getting). It's a beautiful, comfortable retreat and we will definitely return next year.

Room Tip: Both rooms are beautiful!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We try to strike a balance between privacy and attentivness as many of our guests are couples on their honeymoon or a romantic getaway. We're always available just across the lanai, but will try to make it more clear in the future that we are here if anything needs restocked or cleaned during the stay. Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve our guests experience!

What a fantastic find! At the Craters Edge is a true boutique accommodation. A gorgeous setting, there are only two units to rent so it feels like a private oasis. The park and the town were both close by, thought not necessarily walking friendly. We took advantage of the hot tub surrounded by rain forest flora and fauna. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating, and the snack/ beverage selection was spot on! I’d go back in a heartbeat.

I had never been to any of the Hawaiian islands, and was excited to just get away from the everyday. I wasn't expecting such a thorough release of tension, all the way down to my soul! It was just so pleasant, comfortable, and accommodating, that I left smiling at everyone the entire way home. I am grateful for such a "power" spot, some place that the batteries can get fully recharged.

Room Tip: Both rooms were just as lovely as the other.

i decided to make my first visit to the big island and to volcano, blind. i’d been recommended to me by a friend, and my husband had visited just a few months before and raved about how we had to go together. that was all the info i had, no pictures, no reviews nothing. an added bonus to us would be that we would spend christmas there and other friends would also be staying during the same time.
christmas in hawaii. what could you not love about it ?. yet, and whatever i might have blindly expected, i didn’t expect this. cozy, comfortable and splendid, a great balance between sleeping in a rainforest and all the usual comfort of a hotel. lovely fourposter, jacuzzi in room, the best shower ever, fruit - papayas, bananas, oranges, cereal ( so i’m an overgrown kid who who can get down with a bowl of froot loops on vaca ), snacks, the best water ever - catchment rainwater ( and when it rains....we’re from seattle, we know a thing or two about the charms of rain ) the banana bread. hot tub down the hall. their gardening prowess and knowledge of the local flora and fauna.
the hosts. a perfect comination of knowledgeable and attentive, without being fussy or intrusive. and generous. this was christmas, after all, they shared their christmas with us.
perhaps we enjoyed amenities of the season that aren’t always there. christmas can bring the best ( and sometimes the worst ) in people, but it’s my testament, that they are probably always generous with their very best. this was at the top of our vacation favorites. we hope that it becomes a tradition

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and your time here on the Big Island. It really was our pleasure having you and being able to share Christmas in Hawaii with you both.
If your travel plans find you in Hawaii again, we would love the opportunity to share more of our corner of paradise with you.

We spent 2 nights in Volcano and stayed At the Crater's edge. This place is beautiful and very comfortable. Eric and Chris are very nice hosts.

Pros:
1. The room was nice and clean. We particularly enjoyed Eric's homemade banana bread with coffee everyday on the balcony in the morning.
2. They are environmentally friendly - they recycle plastic and cans, and gave us harvested rain water in the room.
3. The place is only a couple miles outside the entrance of the Volcano National Park, and is very convenient.
4. They provided extra towels, and snacks in the room. We enjoyed the snacks on our hikes.
5. There is a hot tub outside in the back but we didn't use it as we stayed out late both nights.

Cons:
1. The place is a little pricey. But, it's really nice and we will definitely stay there again if we are back in Volcano.
2. I wasn't too crazy about the french vanilla flavored coffee. Both hubby and I would have preferred the regular coffee.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and already recommended it to our friends. Great place!

Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate hearing what people think about their stay. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us and would love for you to stay with us again if you ever find yourself in the area. Thanks for the suggestion on the coffee. We have regular on hand, but will start stocking it in the rooms.
