Quaint place to stop and grab a refreshing lemonade. Keep in mind you pack out what you bring in. Good place to relax for a while. I did not stay here but camped near by (1/2 mile). I understand you can order a steak dinner. We did not, but stopped in for some lunch and cold drinks.

Thank Patrick G

Breakfast is something that American accommodation providers don't do well Phantom Ranch does worse than most if it was a free breakfast it would get two stars maybe? But for an expensive breakfast it was abysmal. Stew dinner however was good not gourmet dinning but just a well put together concoction than meet you needs. There was plenty to go around for seconds or even thirds for everyone . The desserts was very average chocolate cake sort of thing that comes premixed in a box for home baking don't leave room for it , have more stew .

What a treat to get to Phantom Ranch and be one of the few that stay there each year. Gorgeous views, cute original cabins from early 1900's, great food at the cantina, no cell service to be tempted, and day hikes with no traffic! NO, the cabins are not hotel rooms... in fact you sleep in a bunk bed and lock your snacks up to keep squirrels from sneaking in... BUT it is better than a tent. The views and hikes make it all worth while. The two different meals served at the cantina were excellent (must be reserved in advance just like the cabins). We went through Wildland Trekking for our Guide and Reservations. They were excellent!

managed to get a steak dinner for the night at the ranch, and it was quite excellent. Steak - perfectly grilled, fresh large salad, perfect backed potatoes with loads of sour cream, green beans. The entire meal was excellent - passed on the chocolate cake - it looked very disappointing after the excellent dinner. Pricey - but consider the location.

If you are doing the Rim to Rim this is a nice stop. You can get food and beer here. Word of warning, they open at 8am. So if you are going South to North you will probably get here too early and not be able to use the facilities.
