Absolutely loved our stay! The cottage was well furnished and comfortable. We had a serene view to return to after exploring the busy side of Acadia. Robin was a great resource and pointed us to local establishments that were excellent. We would definitely stay here again if travels bring us back to Acadia!!!
Absolutely loved Annie's sunset cottage !! Great location on the quiet side of acadia. Only took 25 minutes to get to popular attractions in acadia. We made sure we returned to cottage to catch the sunset every night. Absolutely stunning sunsets!!
We enjoyed our third consecutive year at Annie's Outlook at Sunset Cottages and have already reserved for next year. Love the peace and solitude of staying on the Quiet Side, but we can always find activity in nearby Southwest Harbor, or Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor, both a little farther away. Staying at Annie's always rewards us with amazing sunsets over the water, an occasional glimpse of an eagle or osprey, and anything we could want inside the cottage itself. Each year, we find that the owners have made updates to the property. This year's new changes were removing the queen bed in the common area living room/bedroom and putting a king-sized bed into the room next to it which had previously had only a day bed. They also replaced the carpeting with petty hardwood floors and installed a new stainless steel refrigerator. It is really freshing to see improvements to rental properties especially without raising the rates to pay for them! Everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained! Towels, bed linens, and dishes are of the kind you might have in your own home instead of those found in the hotel industry. We enjoyed the area activities including visits to Bass Harbor Headlight, a hike on Ship Harbor Trail, and lobster at Thurston's. We always enjoy the Quietside Cafe for their Island Pizza and blueberry or apple pie, and we like the Colonel in Northeast Harbor. Acadia is magnificent, and we love the Schoodic Peninsula and the drive up to Lubec for lunch and fantastic views of Quoddy Headlight. Best rainy day activities - shopping at Reny's in Elsworth, antiquing, and perusing the shops in Bar Harbor. It doesn't get any better than the vacation we just enjoyed with Annie's as our home base! Thank you!
This was a much anticipated trip, and Annie's Outlook truly delivered. Like all other reviews, I have reinforce that the cottage was fantastic: well stocked with amenities, modern conveniences, beautiful views, and generous owners (Barbara and family). This is a wonderful place to make as your home base. What could be better than dining with awesome Sunset views of Duck Cove in front of you? What could be better than being comfortable and relaxed in your home away from home? What could be better than drinking wine on your own private deck/adironack chairs dotted around the property. You won't be disappointed. We weren't and we are likely to return!

This cottage is even nicer than it looks in the pictures. It was extremely clean, and the kitchen and bath were recently and nicely renovated. The bed was quite comfortable. The setting could not be more perfect for someone who comes for the love of the Maine coast. To sit out on the Adirondack chairs at the edge of the water in the morning or at sunset is like a dream. The only complaint is that the mosquitos love the setting as well, but that is Maine in July!! I will add to the other reviews by noting that the thoughtful attention to details by the owners was much appreciated, as were the helpful notes and suggestions provided. We were alerted to a fisherman who sells from his truck along the road and grilled halibut on the gas grill, and cooked scallops stove, which was a delight in the well-equipped kitchen. And the lobster at Thurstons, the lobster pound just around the corner, was fabulous! It is truly on the "quiet side" of the island, but has the convenience of small markets for provisions close by. After hiking the trails during the day, it was such a pleasure to return, and we were sad to leave after our week was over. We will be back for sure. I can't imagine a nicer place for a couple to stay on Mt Desert Island.
