We were looking for a "quick" hike to do with our dog on our last morning, and this was perfect. We parked at the trail head near Otter Cliffs. Light "scrambling" but definitely doable for two novice hikers. Took about an hour to hike to the summit and back. We avoided the Cadillac Cliffs offshoot, but would consider next time!

I'd recommend going up Precipice, to Champlain then following signs to Gorham. Views from Gorham are just as great as Precipice but you wouldn't want to go down the ladder sections on Precipice.

The Gorham Mountain trail is a moderate 2 mile up and back hike. We did not take the Cadillac Cliffs spur that goes to the right about half way up the trail. That trail apparently has some sharp drop-offs, so we choose not to go that way. If you stay on the main trail there are no steep drop-offs, and it is a moderate hike if you are in reasonably good health and used to hiking mountains. As always, I recommend using hiking poles, although it's not necessary if you are young and healthy. We parked at Sand Beach and walked along Ocean Path enjoying the coastline until we arrived at the Gorham trail parking lot. This adds a few miles to the total round trip hike. You can park at the Gorham trail lot, but if it is full, you are out of luck because the Park Loop Road is one way and you can't go back to park in another lot. You could possibly park at the Otter Cliff lot and walk back if necessary. There is another trail from Sand Beach that goes up the Beehive Trail and then over to Gorham Mountain, but my understanding is that this might be a steeper climb. Not sure though. To sum up, take this hike for amazing views with a moderate amount of effort,

Less crowded than some of the more popular trails, but still go early - the parking lot can fill up by 8am. The views are different at the faux summit and the true summit - make sure to do both. Not a strenuous hike by any means. A fairly easy hike, over granite and through forests. The views of Sand Beach, Otter Cliffs, the Atlantic, and the surrounding mountains are stunning.

Not the most popular trail in the park, but that's why I liked it. While the lookout areas and summit were reasonably crowded, the hike up was not. It's an easier climb than some of the other trails at the park, and the pay-off is well worth the effort. At the top you can look down at Sands Beach/the ocean. It's a similar vantage point as the Beehive Summit, just down a ways, so if you don't want to tackle the iron rungs but still want a workout and a nice view, opt for this trail.
