This campground is part of Acadia National Park. It’s located on the west side of MDI.
The campgrounds in Acadia National Park are frequently full so it’s advisable to make reservations well in advance.
My visit was to scout the campground for future reference. Since I had a park pass, the ranger allowed me to tour the campground.
All roads were paved.
There were different sections. All were heavily wooded. The campsites were spaced far enough apart to afford campers some privacy.
Campers at many of the tenting sites had set up tarps above their tents and over the picnic tables to shield against rain and any falling leaves or pine needles or tree sap. Some folks with smaller campers had done the same things.
The campsites for the larger motor homes up to 35 feet had electric hookups and dump tanks.
The campground had a theater.
Flush toilets were available. There were water spigots close to the campsites.
Acadia's Island Explorer shuttle buses provide free transportation between the campground and park attractions.
I thought this was a very nice campground.
