We were two families who vacationed together and chose this property primarily because of the location. We wanted to experience the Normandy countryside and also the D-Day beaches. Ferme du Chateau is situated perfectly, close to major roads and highways. We loved the grounds of our house, enjoyed the horse (Stiroone) and the donkeys, and Venus--the owner's sweet dog. John and Rebecca were wonderful hosts, checking on us to be sure we had what we needed. The house was a little more rustic than we expected, but suitably comfortable. The kitchen was well-appointed and user-friendly. There were a few small towns nearby for groceries, restaurants, etc. Very convenient.
We loved our week here, loved John and Rebecca's warmth and humor, and loved all the beauty and history of Normandy.
The only drawback was that upstairs was a very large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and downstairs were three double bedrooms and one small bathroom With two families sharing the house, one couple got the big bedroom/bathroom and the other couple was in a much smaller double bedroom--inequitable for two families sharing the cost. It would be perfect for one large family.
Overall, we loved the house, the area, and our hosts.
