“THE place to have a reunion”

We have had a brilliant weekend at Orchard Barn with our family and friends, 26 in total. The house is well equipped and comfortable. Perfect for a relaxed weekend with 7 children. 19 adults and 2 dogs. Plenty of space for ball games in the garden,. A couple of idiosyncrasies with the plumbing but nothing to spoil the weekend. Ample parking and places to visit. Rosena was very welcoming and helpful. No hesitation in recommending Orchard Barn.

“Big Family Weekend”
Reviewed 2 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

24 of us enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Orchard Barn. We aged from 2-----68. The three lounges helped every one to have space to be. Rosena made us feel at home and was quick to respond to any query. The barn is very family friendly, has a well equipped kitchen and a much needed dish washer. We were together for a wedding and the barn gave us a great space to celebrate family life together. The only problem is the family all want to know when we can do this again!!!

“Great family venue in beautiful countryside.”

Only real downside was the weather but many places to visit on both north and south Devon Coasts to suit all tastes. Accommodation was ideal for our extended family comprising 15 adults and 4 children spread over 3 generations. Living rooms cosy and comfortable and enough bedrooms/beds/bathrooms for the various family units. Private garden was ideal for ball games for the kids and not so old adults between the showers.

One criticism is that if, like us, you want to self cater, despite there being two kitchens, we struggled at times "bulk" cooking and had to borrow minor items (can opener that worked an scissors) from adjoining renters. The utensils, otherwise, were in plentiful supply but scattered around in various drawers. That said we coped and all had a great time.

As a venue for an extended family gathering, this is ideal. Not pretentious but very comfortable.
2nd kitchen could be better equipped (no fridge). Venue was not easy to find even with sat.nav.
All in all an ideal location.

The property is cosy with two wood burners. Good cooking facilities and anything you might need. There's a lovely lake on site and also a pool table in a separate annex. The owner - Rosena - lives on site so if there is anything you need on arrival she's there to help. It's important to say that despite living on site she definitely gives you your space too (we hardly saw her after arrival). It is very long and thin as it's a converted barn but it was perfect for us as everyone fit in nicely with enough double beds and cooking facilities.

One word of caution - this barn isn't a luxury, top-of-the-range place to stay. It was perfect for us because we are low maintenance and we were there for a big party but if you're looking for luxury, this probably isn't for you.
Thanks Rosena!
