Nice cafe with a good range of food in the lovely village of Crich.
Cakes are exceptional, but their specialty is their bread which is baked in the attached bakery. (They run courses here too)
Can be busy at times, and it's not always possible to get a table, but it's a nice place if you are nearby.

We arrived and had no problem getting a table. Our order was taken prompt and drinks arrived. When the food arrived it started to go down hill. The ham was nice in the ham cob but the small side salad wasn’t very nice. The quiche and salad meal was very strange as there wasn’t any basic salad just the coleslaw, potato salad and something with raw broccoli and cranberries ( we think) the butter wasn’t very nice for the bread as it had a vinegar taste to it. No one came and asked if everything was ok. We had finished and the staff seemed to be rushing around but we finally caught one after 15 mins of waiting to ask if we could order some cakes, just after we ask him the table next to us asked him if they could order some more coffees. He served them their coffee and just disappeared. 10 mins later I managed to get another member of staff and mentioned to him that we had already asked to order desserts and could we order with him. He disappeared and 5 mins later a lady came and took our order. The Cake and scone arrived promptly but they where both dry. We had enough and decided to pay ( wasn’t even asked at the till if everything was ok)and we left.
The place seemed not very well organised. When we came in there where 3 staff at the front who where serving the counter and the tables and when we left there was at least 4. The staff seemed to forget about the customers at the tables and all stood serving the counter. It might be an idea to have one concentrate on the tables at busy times.

Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback. We are sorry that you didn't enjoy your visit and experienced poor customer service. We do pride ourselves on our food...all of our salads are made from scratch on the premises and we try to offer a range of interesting salads to choose from for dishes like the quiche. However, if you prefer a basic salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumber etc, we would be happy to make that for you. We try to make it clear on our menu what the different options are.
I am unsure what might have been the vinegar taste in the butter. We get a butter delivery four times a week and are using the stock almost immediately. The butter is Jersey Butter from Longley Farm in Yorkshire and people normally say how much they like it.
As for the comments about customer service and organisation, we are often busy both helping customers at the counter and serving customers at table. That is no excuse for not taking orders or following up though and I have passed your feedback on to our staff and we will re-iterate the importance of giving good customer service in our next training. We have tried several approaches to organising our staff during busy times...with the best will in the world though, we don't always get it right. I apologise that your experience wasn't up to scratch and hope that you give us another try and have a more representative 'loaf' visit.

We are so lucky to have the loaf so close. Just had another great meal there, at the Wednesday pizza night. Great food, cooked just how you want, great service.
