The island is located at the southernmost top of Miura Peninsula. Like the Geopark, there are many interesting topographies made by erosion by waves and sea breeze from Tokyo Bay.
Basically the means to go there is car. You can use the bus as public transport to go there, there are not many services. It may be good to go on foot or by cycling from "Misaki Port" bus stop with many services.
You'll find that it is quite different on the north side and the south side of the island. The north side is fishing port, there are many souvenir shops and restaurants. On the other hand, there are few buildings on the south side. There are many strange shaped cliffs and terrain made by erosion by waves and sea breeze from Tokyo Bay. Such terrain completely refuses entry of cars. Also, it is better to avoid clothes like living in the city in order to enjoy this terrain.
Although there are some places where you can use as sea bathing, most of them are not maintained for sea bathing. Since the waves are high and the sea breezes are strong like every day, if you jump into the sea from the cliffs in interested, you may not be saved. In order to enjoy safely at the spots, you should enjoy sea bathing in the decided places.

If you visit Misaki Port this is one walk you need to consider. It will take a couple of hours but, although it is undulating, it's not very arduous. The floating volcanic lava has folded into marvellous shapes during cooling (a long, long time ago, so don't worry) so there is a firm, grippy foothold when climbing. Excellent photo opportunities appear on the way including a magnificent light house, a ginger cat and a very photogenic arch worn through the rocks by a very busy Pacific Ocean. Please don't climb and walk over the arch as it is becoming vulnerable to damage. If you are lucky, you will also encounter local families harvesting seaweed; their families have been doing this for hundreds of years, using the same techniques and equipment. Please be careful, when walking, not to walk through their crop which will be, at very points, spread on the shore or placed in mounds for drying.
Have a nice day.

I took a bus to reach Jogashima using the misaki maguro discount ticket which allows unlimited bus rides. This place is fun to explore, but lots of climbing as well. The lighthouses and the scenery, people picnic as well.

For me it was an enjoyable escape from the city. I like the small town feel for Jogashima Island. Good food, swimming, fishing, light house hunting, hiking and excellent views. Had a delicious Meguro bowl underneath the bridge, saw ßa few lighthouses, hiked around the entire Island, and enjoyed some spectacular views. Definitely a half a day trip. Pray for a clear day so you can see Mt. Fuji.

We took a day trip here and stayed 4-5 hrs. Parking in town was ¥700. We walked down a little street that had a couple of souvenir shops and some restaurants. We ate corn on the cob and fresh sashimi which was very good. The beach area is sand and then hard rock. There are two lighthouses and a gorgeous rock formation. Signs mark the trail to the park and to the rock. I would recommend this trip. Public restroom clean and accessible.
