Best Takoyaki in Osaka. We looked for this attraction based on a referral from a friend. It did not disappoint. The price is affordable and takoyaki is delicious that we asked for a second serving.

Located on 3F of the Universal Citywalk Osaka this area has several takomaki restaurants offering there wares for your purchase.

Menus and prices are boldly displayed, which makes the novice (like me) much more comfortable with choosing which one to try.

I opted for the black takomaki, which was very interesting to taste.

Surroundings were clean and comfortable.

Staff were welcoming, pleasant, and professional.

Pricing was very reasonable.

Self-service cleanup is expected.

Highly recommended.

It being our second time at USJ, we left relatively early in the day (around 5pm) and found ourselves wandering into the Takoyaki Museum.

I have to say, it wasn't what I was expecting. It's more of an experiential museum than a conventional museum. The premises houses around 10 different takoyaki shops, from which you actually buy takoyaki from and enjoy as a delicious snack.

The shops feature various takoyaki from different regions. It was great to see less conventional varieties of takoyaki, such as those made with bamboo charcoal powder, those with added cheese filling, or a sea salt (shio) topping instead of the more usual brown takoyaki sauce. There was one made with extra negi (Japanese scallions) which made a fragrant and delightful surprise!

Takoyaki prices average at around ¥800 for 6 pcs, which is obviously more pricey than in street stalls. Still, it made for an interesting diversion on our way out from Universal City.

There are also small shops selling takoyaki-themed souvenirs, which seemed really popular with small children (or adult fans of things kawaii).

Takoyaki museum is not a museum. Its just takoyaki stalls with small seating areas. You can order through the vendo machine. We got the sampler which was 1000jpy. But we only liked the cheese takoyaki. I suggest to just get the cheese takoyaki and share it if you are with a group.
