It was such an amazing stay here at the Hyatt Kyoto. The architecture and the interior design of the room was simply breathtaking. My husband was ill on the trip, possibly due to the cold weather, and the front desk staff went all out to make sure we had the hot water for meds. We were deeply impressed by the service. The room itself is also spotless as in other Hyatt hotels that we have stayed at. The total experience has made our holiday a really fantastic trip.

Even were here during the monsoon in October, during which we visited the massive art museum across the street. Love visiting the temple next door with tickets provided. WE enjoy the buffet breakfasts, the Italian restaurant, and the special theme buffet dinners. The Maiko dance performance with photo ops is a plus. We enjoyed body treatments at the spa (energy work and acupuncture double sessions). We have stayed in all types of rooms, from the most basic in annex to the penthouse Kyoto Suite. Concierges were helpful, and we especially enjoyed the personal touches and hospitality professionalism from General Manager Miriam Varoli, who has a keen sense of the needs of international travelers and World of Hyatt Globalist guests.

We stayed here for 2 night in January 2018.

This property is a great place to experience the beauty of Kyoto and the service and hotel match you you expect from both this amazing town and the Hyatt brand.

The location is about a 10/15 minute walk form Kyoto station. But there is complimentary taxi ride if you arrive at Kyoto station, which was great as we had flown overnight from Sydney to Tokyo and the caught the Shinkansen to Kyoto, and the ride made life so much easier. the actual location is probably not the best area, with not a lot of restaurants near by. However, within walking to a couple stops of the metro is the heart of Kyoto, with its beautiful laneways.

The property itself is great. The rooms are large and have everything you want and expect. The staff at checkin where perfect. The concierge was very helpful, although I have to say some suggestions (catching the bus vs metro or walking for example) were a little off the mark. But no big issue. The breakfast buffet is large and fresh. The bakery items are better than you expect in Japan and especially when the chef walks around the room offering fresh croissants.
Two minor issues:
1. There is no pool - we knew this and check out the gym which is great, but a pool would top this hotel off
2. There is a weird step between the shower/bath room and the toilet/basin room in the bath area. I lost count the number of times we tripped on that step. Not major, but certainly something they should address, especially if there are any older travellers staying there

We would certainly recommend this hotel and stay here again.

Pros
- Close to Kyoto station with complimentary taxi to the hotel on arrival
- Close to a metro station for the centre of Kyoto and some of the major sites
- Beautiful rooms and hotel
- Great people and service

Cons (minor)
- The area around the hotel is lacking in places to eat and see
- No pool
- The bathroom step

Room Tip: Ask for top floor, as I suspect the view would be great

The standards of this hotel are of the highest... faultless!!
The attention to detail, friendly and helpful service, quality of the restaurants, and the spa treatments are amazng. Ive had a couple of accupuncture sessions - I hate needles so this was a big moment for me - I now need to find a Japanese ractitioner back home!! As for a good facial... you will have to settle for a GREAT facial. Im looking for ward to my massage tomorrow! Sorry no photos in the Spa

We stayed a night for family gathering. I often visit here for restaurant but staying is also amazing and I would recmomend staying here to feel like a home and being calm. Next time I would like to try Spa as well.
