We really appreciated Valentina meeting us on the edge of Agnone to direct us (in our car) to her beautifully sited B & B. The rooms were really nice, clean and the views were absolutely stunning. Our only criticism was the breakfast supplied by a restaurant "down the road". It was very meagre even by continental standards and the person who served us showed very little interest. We would not let this deter us from staying here again. Valentina was extremely friendly, welcoming and interested in us as guests. Thank you Valentina.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2011

My husband, three daughters (two teens ,one twenty-two yr. old) and I, spent three nights at Borgo San Pietro in Agnone this June. We came to explore our family roots and visit "parenti" (relatives), still living in Agnone.
Our entire stay was wonderful and seamless from start to finish. Our proprietress was the very beautiful Valentina who was very warm and quite professional. She speaks great English and made sure our accomodations were just as we requested. We stayed in the Le Rose pensione/apartment, which featured two bedrooms-the master has a balcony with a small grape arbor, which overlooks the mountains. There is a living room/ dining area opening onto a small - full service kitchen. Our third bed was made up in the living room. The modern bathroom was a great luxury in Italy. This place sleeps six very comfortably and there even is a baby crib if needed. Also the area is very quiet. Our stay was during the third week in June and for summer we found the rooms quiet cool... absolutely no need for AC (and believe me we need it and use it in the states).
Borgo San Pietro is located in the historic section of Agnone, and has a beautiful panoramic view from the edge of the mountain overlooking the surrounding countryside and the valley below. I could spend hours just looking over the valley, it is so beautiful.
Each morning we strolled down to the closest piazza to the cafe bar Lettura for our breakfast (the cornetti and cafe were delicious there).Take time to explore the town and wander into the copper and iron shops. Make sure you visit the converted convent which is now a library. There the librarian, Signor Mastronardi, will give you a fascinating yet brief tour of the facility, which will help you to better understand Agnone. He will then explain to you the project he has undertaken to unite Agnonese across the world.
Do not miss the Marinelli bell factory. It is home to bells that chime in some of the most important buildings and cities in the world, the Vatican, the Kremlin and the Liberty bell. The bell tour is strictly in Italian...but don't miss it. There is a film of the process, many bells and models, and a working factory- all of which you will see on the tour. If you aren't "churched out" from elsewhere in Italia by this time, check out the churches. There are twenty-one chiase, all as they were hundreds- and in one case, nearly a thousand -years ago. ( The church directly across from Borgo S P is is San Pietro...almost 1000 years old).
Valentina -and her husband Mario- both speak excellent English. They were very helpful to us in providing; directions, options for dinner, shops to visit, area towns and spots of interest, and talking about the states where they had lived for several years.
Emma, Valentina's mother, owns and runs the Masseria Santa Lucia, which is an agrituisimo just fifteen minutes drive from Agnone, in the country. The farm is quite beautiful and has a lovely pool which we were encouraged to use and our children loved. Emma and her husband Decio, are wonderful proprietors. The Galassos both have individual gifts. She is an accomplished cook and your mouth will water in memory of the Agnonese meal she prepares for you. He is an exuberant host -a local entrepreneur absolutely unafraid to get his hands dirty. He also knows quite a bit about the people who call Agnone their home and can assist you in finding information about your ancestors.
Agnone was one of our most favorite spots in Italy. It is a beautiful town nestled in the mountains of Molise...truly Agnone is la bella citta d'arte.
We loved our stay in Agnone and hold it in our hearts.

We stopped in Agnone for one night and were glad that we did! Our room was clean and quaint. The room was perfectly situated in the old town of Agnone. Breakfast was close by and the service was great.

We would stay here again. The furnishings were very nice and the people in Agnone were so friendly and helpful. We stayed with 2 adults and 3 teenagers and were very comfortable.

Agnone is a small town high in the mountains with great weather. I researched the internet before traveling there and found B&B Borgo San Pietro. The website shows beautiful pictures and Borgo San Pietro more than met my expectations. My room, which I requested as it had a balcony, was beautiful and very clean with a clean modern bathroom. The view was great from my room overlooking the mountains but you must go to the terrace on the roof top. Borgo San Pietro is situated in the heart of the historic area and you can easily walk through the old and new parts of town. I enjoyed Borgo San Pietro and Agnone so much I stayed an extra day. The staff, Valentina and her husband were extremely friendly and made sure your stay was enjoyable. Borgo San Pietro is a little piece of Heaven in a wonderful little town. Agnone is where the bells for Churches and Bell Towers throughout Europe are made. Do not pass up Agnone and especially Borgo San Pietro on your next trip to the Molise region of Italy. I can't wait to go back!
