Our group, which stayed at Ambraden Pond B&B for a weekend in November, included a mother and her two adult daughters. From the moment we stepped through the front door until the time we left two days later, we were absolutely impressed with everything about this hidden paradise in the Cowichan Valley. The property is tucked away, well off the road but within easy driving distance to local amenities. The beautiful home sits on a tranquil pond, with idyllic farmland next door. The decor of Joan and Chris's home is so tasteful, as well as being spotlessly clean. We used both rooms in the main house (there is also a nearby "non-catered" studio that is separate from the house) and both were beautifully appointed, each with its own very large bathroom. Staying in November meant that a wood-burning fire was lit whenever we entered the gorgeous living room. Joan and Chris are a lovely couple and we enjoyed several very engaging chats with them; at the same time, they gave us plenty of privacy. I'm not sure I'd want to stay in the non-catered studio because it would mean missing Joan's scrumptious breakfasts. These gourmet offerings were served at a little table overlooking the pond, with the fire going nearby. Heavenly! There are certainly no corners cut in this establishment -- plenty of fresh squeezed juice, the most delicious coffee, fresh raspberries, strawberries and blueberries, and, for the main course, a delicious eggs-benny style dish one day and the most amazing creme brulee waffles the next. With sweet (and hypoallergenic) LouLou the dog putting in an occasional appearance, the weekend was our best weekend getaway ever. Needless to say, highly recommended!

Room Tip: Both rooms in the main house are lovely, each with its own very large bathroom.

We stayed in Cobble Hill for two nights and during our stay we loved staying at Ambradeen Pond, which is as beautiful and relaxing as its pictures. Our hosts were friendly and provided amazing food and great attention to detail. Our time there was the perfect mix of privacy and good company and excellent breakfast, we plan to stay there again. We appreciated the beautiful decor inside and great scenery outside. We enjoyed all of the personalized touches and loved our weekend get-away. Thanks to the host for making our stay an incredible experience

I've never been a big fan of B&B type accommodations, but this gem in the heart of the Cowichan Valley has me rethinking that opinion in a big way. Lodgings aside, Ambraden Pond's location is so idyllic, so picturesque, it's hard to believe a place like this actually exists outside the realm of fairy tales and lucid dreamworlds. Our studio in the main house was immaculately clean, stylishly furnished, blissfully comfortable and sublimely peaceful. Hosts Joan and Chris are kind, helpful and respectful to a fault, never overbearing or intrusive like other B&B hosts I've encountered. Our breakfast was gourmet quality. As a seasoned global traveller, I'm pretty picky and critical about the places I stay, but I struggle to find a single thing wrong with this place. Clearly, the proprietors have put careful thought and love into every last detail. They obviously care deeply about their B&B and providing the best for their guests. This is a truly special place and I look forward to future stays.

My wife and I stayed at the pond for 2 nights for our wedding reception in August. Joan was hilarious and so accommodating. She didn't mind our friends and guests dropping in to help us with preparations, and offered us wine as we settled in.

The guest house and suites are simply incredible, and you won't find anything more comfortable on Vancouver Island. It's the perfect place to relax.

Oh, and watch out for their cute dog Lulu when you're pulling up. The little thing is full of energy but tends to chase cars down the driveway :).

Joan is a wonderful host. The house is beatiful and the rooms are just excellent. Breakfast is fine and was served at a great spot with a view of the lake.
the location is right in between Nanaimo en Victoria. Nice area.
