My wife and I stayed at the pond for 2 nights for our wedding reception in August. Joan was hilarious and so accommodating. She didn't mind our friends and guests dropping in to help us with preparations, and offered us wine as we settled in.

The guest house and suites are simply incredible, and you won't find anything more comfortable on Vancouver Island. It's the perfect place to relax.

Oh, and watch out for their cute dog Lulu when you're pulling up. The little thing is full of energy but tends to chase cars down the driveway :).

Joan is a wonderful host. The house is beatiful and the rooms are just excellent. Breakfast is fine and was served at a great spot with a view of the lake.
the location is right in between Nanaimo en Victoria. Nice area.

My husband and I stayed here on the night of our wedding after having the reception just up the road in Arbutus Ridge Golf Club. What a wonderful place! We arrived late at night but woke up to the most perfect surroundings we could have ever hoped for as our first morning as husband and wife. The room was spacious, very clean and beautifully decorated. And the views outside our window were just breathtaking! When we arrived downstairs our host Joan greeted us with champagne and orange juice to celebrate being newlyweds! The breakfast that followed was possibly the best I've ever had! Fresh fruit and yogurt, followed by a baked french toast dish and sausage as we sat in the bay window admiring the tranquil view. A truly wonderful stay!

My husband and I loved our one-night getaway at this B&B. Our host greeted us graciously, and in no time we were chatting about the things to see and do in the area. She recommended someplace nearby for dinner, and made a reservation for us.

Our large comfortable room overlooked a serene pond. In fact, the only source of noise was the soft chorus of frogs which literally lulled us to sleep. The photos on the website are an accurate reflection of what you'll see when you arrive.

Breakfast was tasty, and we had lots of time to linger over coffee.

During a previous, too-short vacation in the Cowichan Valley we had dropped by Ambraden Pond to look at the property and the guest rooms. We were staying elsewhere at the time, but when the entrance road opened onto an extraordinary vista punctuated by a large, reed-fringed pond, we knew that this well-designed environment and elegant house needed our deeper attention. Two years later we returned for a whole week of Valley exploration in mid-August 2013 and chose this B&B as our initial base because of its efficient location closest to the first two days of activities on our busy itinerary. No sooner had we approached the front door than Chris invited us to join in a refreshing late afternoon beverage on the patio. Our room (No. 1) welcomed us with plenty of space, calming décor, and a well-appointed en suite bathroom. We slept like stones between the fine sheets on the embracing mattress and pillows. Breakfasts each day were feasts for the eyes and palates. Joan puts a lot of thought and effort into her kitchen creations and was accessible for conversations during the meal. Be sure to spend some quiet time on the little dock overlooking the pond, keeping an eye open for activity on and under the surface of the water. We almost regret the sunny and warm weather, which kept us out so long each day that we didn't have opportunities to fully immerse ourselves in the comforts provided by our well-appointed room, the amenities of the house, the tranquility of the pond, and roaming regularly around the property. As we knew it would, Ambraden Pond Bed & Breakfast more than fulfilled our imaginings and is a choice that we would make again, at a slower pace. Anyone spending time in the Cowichan Valley must make a point of being a guest at this beautiful B&B.

Room tip: Based on our brief look at the rooms a couple of years earlier, we requested Room No. 1 because of the placement of the bed, the position of the en suite bathroom, the particular view, and the fact that this room shares only one wall with another guest room.
