We stayed in one of the lodges with our 3 kids aged 10, 6 and 9mths for a week.
The lodges are a super size. Downstairs, although narrow, we had plenty of room to sit. Kitchen is a good size and the downstairs loo is a bonus.
Upstairs the lodge really impressed- huge bedrooms, both with ensuites- one with a shower one with bath. Really comfy beds too.
It is a shame the balcony was closed off for safety reasons however- the kids had a big room which was really warm and being unable to open the balcony door meant there was only a tiny window.
It would also have been a better idea to have the patio furniture at the rear of the lodge overlooking the green, not the car park.
The lodges are well equipped with washing machine and dishwasher but they could do with more crockery - there were 6 of everything so after breakfast everything had to be washed as there were no spares for later.
There were a few other silly things such as the socket behind the bed being covered by the headboard so we couldn't use it. There's no DVD player which I would expect for a 5star family lodge for a rainy day.
We have stayed in slightly better lodges in the U.K. But this is great value for the money. The added bonus of using the pool facilities is also great. It's a lovely hotel and a great base for lots of family attractions such as Tayto and Dublin Zoo.
I also must add that we found all the staff at the hotel extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble. We'd definitely return and highly recommend.
