We stopped at The Phoenix on our way north, looking for organic food. The dishes were good and tasty, but we had to wait a long time to enjoy them. The bill was one of the highest on our Ireland trip and I'm not sure it was worth it.

Past the famous Inch beach and on the way to the Wild Colonial Boy's birthplace is a jewel of a place, namely The Phoenix Vegetarian Restaurant. The interior of the stone building is an eclectic mix of fabrics, furniture, colours and china with soft relaxing background music. The food is a delight for veggies such as ourselves, i.e. fresh, tasty, and well cooked. The menu had a nice selection of dishes making good use of the vegetables grown in the gardens. Outside, in the extensive gardens we met the lovely owner Lorna, two friendly dogs and a sweet cat. The sun was shining and there was a profusion of flowers, so all in all it was more than a lunch stop, it was a lovely experience.

Stopped off for a quick lunch on our way to Kerry airport. Been in Kerry for a week and eaten out most days and we both agreed it was possibly the nicest meal we'd had all week. Lovely gardens too. Only complaint would be the colour choice of the gentleman's pyjama bottoms!

The best vegetarian meal ever!
A very pleasant atmosphere. The owner has won several awards for her dishes.
Go out of your way to get there.
Beautiful gardens.

After a long and beautiful drive on Conner Pass and along the Wild Atlantic Way, we decided to try The Phoenix.
To our great disappointment, the sign said 'Closed'.
But starving and thirsty as we were, I knocked on the resturant's door and the lovely, generous Lorna said that though she had closed for the day, she'd be happy to prepare a meal for us.
We followed her through her expansive grounds and saw her pick the fresh greens for our shake and salads. We read through her cookbook to get a sense of her personal story and favorite recipes while she busied herself in the kitchen nearby.
And as we ate the freshest and most delicious meal of our week's stay on the Dingle Peninsula, she serenaded us with some Irish folk songs.
We felt as though we had dropped into the rabbit hole of Alice in Wonderland and found ourselves in the sweetest, softest, most magical garden around!!!!
