Stayed here for NYE and I’m happy I did. It was my second visit to Taipei and because of the NYE holiday I could not get a hotel closer to the center of town. It turned out to be a great choice. The hotel is iconic and worth a visit. It’s huge and the service is not particularly personal but what it lacks in intimacy is more than makes up for in character. It’s also a few mins drive to the best night market in Taipei. The rooms were fine and the price was reasonable for Taipei. I am not sure this would be my first choice for business but is a must-visit if you are traveling to Taipei as a tourist.

The Grand Hotel is open to all who want to experience China in its traditional form. Do not expect modernity -- this hotel has been around for a long time. The Grand Hotel is often used as a symbol of Taipei, and it is a favorite setting for functions us weddings. Do not expect too much and you will not be let down.

Room tip: Get a room in the main building

We chose the hotel because of its history. It is magnificent and has a good balance of tradition and modern. We enjoyed the food there and the location disadvantage was compensated by the free shuttle bus services from hotel to nearby train stations. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Stayed there in December ‘18 after a reservation at another hotel fell through.
Front desk was able to arrange a room and airport pickup at 1am via phone in 15 minutes as I had to board and it immediately by email even before the plane took off.
Pickup worked perfectly and we were stunned when we arrived at the hotel.
You feel the history and greatness of the hotel, I haven’t stayed at a comparable place before.
Room was as expected from a 5* hotel, spacious, clean, good amenities. Balcony is huge with great view.
Good breakfast buffet.
Location to get around is ok, the hotel provides shuttle buses to some subway station and night market. Easy to reach by taxi.
Left a coat at the room and found out 2 days later, called the hotel, was found within a few hours and returned.
Will definitely stay there again when going to Taipei!

GRAND hotel! Beautiful oriental architecture, ambience and environment. Room was dated wiith chops and scatches everywhere, but of acceptable quality. Best quality (Molten Brown) toiletries! However, front desk service was such a let down. 2 - 3 staff, long queue, extremely slow check in; 1 staff member seemed unfamiliar with procedure, took 2 staff to handle a guest. Waited 15 minutes to check out when I was 2nd in queue. Suggested to have a separate lane for check out, was bluntly told by burnt out/ frustrated staff "check out also can have long queue!". Housekeeping staff were pleasant and very polite.
