This wonton restaurant is part of a chain and is a favorite with the locals of Hualien. The cab driver who took us here was very surprised that we wanted to go here and not to the tourist favorite wonton restaurant (Yi Xiang Won Ton—we walked there later). My parents used to live in Hualien so I have been to both popular wonton restaurants.
Each bowl came with 9 pork wontons and was 65NT. Pay first and then get seated. We got there around 4:30pm after a day trip to Taroko Gorge and there was no line. The light broth had a strong celery flavor and had lots of green onions. Condiments—soy sauce, white vinegar, sesame oil, pepper.
The pork filling here seemed slightly softer and had more flavor than the ones at Yi Xiang. They may have had less filling since there was more wrapper left to float in the soup base (or they may use larger wrappers).
