We've been here twice, just this first week of February, and last year in April. Our relatives live in Hsinchu and we wanted a hotel that not only has good amenities, but has reliable urban needs, like nearby banks, bus stations and even other restaurants. Sol Hotel is connected to an Italian bar and restaurant and to a Japanese restaurant! It's also next to a small park, with other quick stops and food stalls.

Malls and shopping centers can be walked from the hotel, such as Sogo, if you want, but I recommend walking to their various shopping centers or to their bus stations, because you can see the modern culture and atmosphere of Hsinchu. The walk to Sogo or Big City mall is personally enjoyable.

Anyway, as for the hotel itself, it has a free breakfast buffet with a good variety of East and West cuisine. Cleaning staff can be very efficient and, if you went out of the hotel room, may clean your room while you're out. You can put their Do Not Disturb sign so they won't have to do housecleaning on your room. They have a very efficient staff overall and the area where Sol Hotel is bustling with it's own distinct day and night life.

Booked for 4 days , we were given a room with no windows. We called to change for one with windows but the hotel asked to charge nt$ 450 additional per day. I said that when I made the reservation it was a standard room and it did not said no windows. They said that the price was for a no windows room. Since it was already paid in full to Hotels.com, we had no other alternative. The room was a cold and dark ice box where you can't tell if it's day or night. Beware!

Room tip: Make sure there is a window before booking.

We spent a very comfortable 3 nights at the hotel. The room was huge and clean. Location is excellent...walking distance to the centre of town and to lots of restaurants and shops.

The only downside was that our room faced a school so the Friday morning we were staying there was a wee bit noisy.

Nice and clean. The cleaner comes everyday with a smile. I stayed five days in this hotel without any problem. I just wish that they have a swimming pool. The breakfast/food is good and there are selections of it. They have a small garden near the breakfast room . Good to sit there and listen to the cascading water in the wall. The elementary school in front of the hotel doesn't bother me. The hotel is handy as it is near the town center and restaurants. The price in the hotel is good too. Staff are okey. Will recommend it.

Stayed one night in this Hsinchu hotel. It's about 15 mins walk to the Train Station and the SOGO shopping centre. This hotel is located near to a small quiet park. Hotel is quite old. Room is big. Breakfast is average.
