We've been here twice, just this first week of February, and last year in April. Our relatives live in Hsinchu and we wanted a hotel that not only has good amenities, but has reliable urban needs, like nearby banks, bus stations and even other restaurants. Sol Hotel is connected to an Italian bar and restaurant and to a Japanese restaurant! It's also next to a small park, with other quick stops and food stalls.
Malls and shopping centers can be walked from the hotel, such as Sogo, if you want, but I recommend walking to their various shopping centers or to their bus stations, because you can see the modern culture and atmosphere of Hsinchu. The walk to Sogo or Big City mall is personally enjoyable.
Anyway, as for the hotel itself, it has a free breakfast buffet with a good variety of East and West cuisine. Cleaning staff can be very efficient and, if you went out of the hotel room, may clean your room while you're out. You can put their Do Not Disturb sign so they won't have to do housecleaning on your room. They have a very efficient staff overall and the area where Sol Hotel is bustling with it's own distinct day and night life.
