great colours and imagery. It's an active temple so lots of worshippers and incense being burnt - nice and atmospheric

The good thing about traveling to Taipei and wanting to visit temples is that the temples in Taiwan are more or less a bit similar, they are different but in general not much different, and the traffic in the Taipei city is vernally very good, one can basically organize to visit all top 6-7 temples in a single day still allow nice time for good breakfast, relax lunch and fine dinner. That itself is a good deal - consider the taxi is really quite reasonable. So the real question is "why not?" especially the temple visit (not necessary has to be a buddhist to visit temple) will provide a good study or understanding what local religious culture is. So the Pao'an temple is one of those that is worth to visit (because it really does not take much time of the day). However, without exception these days, one can always find those weekend photo group gather to take their best shots of temple architecture of their life, so perhaps for those travel with beloved camera and look for photography opportunities in travel will find something interesting there too!

The temple is adorned in wonderful carvings and paintings. It is also an extremely peaceful place where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of Taipei...that is until a plane passes overhead. Easy to get to from the MRT and well worth a visit

We came here on our final day, and nearly didn't because we were worried we may be 'templed out'. I should not have been concerned because this was a real highlight. Beautiful buildings in a peaceful area. Combined with the nearby Confucius temple, you can easily dedicate a few hours here.

I found there are no photos be taken at night, even websites outside tripadvisor, so I decide to put some photos here, because it's really a pity if you don't seize the chance enjoy night view here when staying in Taipei.
The open time is am6:30~pm10:00, let residents to pray here. Many people get the incense stick and talk to the god with authentic expression, some of them doing "bwa bwei" . (BTW, "bwa bwei" can be replaced by two coins , Isn't it fun? ^ v ^)
No pushy tourists , filled with beautiful art and vibrant Taiwanese culture, A peaceful place at dusk and at night with Soft lighting upon the temple. No wonder this temple got the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards.
Because of Chinese Communist Party , Taiwan is not member of UN, so there is no property listed on the Unesco’s World Heritage List in Taiwan.
