Between the famous Rougaille Creole sausage, cang mocked cabbage and salted fish, traditional curry chicken creole, or broth 'zourite and coconut chutney' Escale Creole remains the TABLE where you and your guests can make the unique experience of a "real Manze Lacaze" , hearty and generous !!! In a large veranda, we can serve between 2 and 50 seats on large tables with traditional gingham tablecloths. Our "table d'hote" allows each client to help himself laid flat on the table well Mauritian way, so that everyone is free to be reserved if desired

We drove from Flic en flac yesterday afternoon, wanting to have food at the highest rated restaurant for Mauritian food. Did not disappoint! It was actually closed for individual customers, open only to pre-booked groups. However, the lady there was kind enough to let us stay and have lunch. The people were pretty friendly, and the whole place had a nice homely feel to it. You will definitely feel welcome there! The dessert was good too! Totally worth visiting.

Greetings from Escale Créole!
It has been indeed a great pleasure to welcome you last time and I would like to thank you for your wonderful comment about our family restaurant.
As many of other visitors you as well got to know about Escale Créole through TripAdvisor where we serve as we say "grand-mother's recipes" creole food, in a cosy atmosphere since 18 years now.... Though it was a very busy day, i am happy that you felt homely!
Thanks again for the time you spent for writing for us… it give us the energy to continue and maintain the good work!

Ranked #1 - we were really hopeful of a smashing lunch. We drove all the way from Le Morne just to sample the food and we were disappointed.

The pork and fish dishes were quite oily and bland - the veg dishes were better but only the lentils and a curry was decent. The deserts were also quite amateurish.

Service was super and the owners were quite welcoming - the place itself is quaint and beautiful but the food really let us down.

Greetings from Escale Créole!
We thank you for your review and are sad to read that the food didn’t live up to your expectations while understanding your impressions.
Actually, Escale Créole is a family restaurant where we try to stick to our traditional recipes so as to make our guests from all over the world and locals as well taste a truly Mauritian créole cuisine from start to finish. Our cuisine is in fact subtler and much less spicy than Indian food and we understand that you have found our food quite flat compared to yours and we feel sorry for that.
We are happy that you have appreciated the surroundings, our sense of hospitality and service and if ever you return to our island, I will be more than happy to cook a special Menu for you, though not Créole and have your impressions on our cooking!

Greetings from sunny and hot Escale Créole!

I smiled at your comment ... My german, french, swiss guests tell me as well to open a creole restaurant in their towns... perhaps I should think seriously about that :)

Many many thanks for your words... It give us the energy to continue the good work!
And be welcomed again when you visit Mauritius

We visited the restaurant as our lunch break on our tour of the North island and it was simply amazing, such a warm welcome from the owner and the food was absolutely fabulous. Our first real taste of authentic creole cuisine and it was perfect. We loved the quirky atmosphere and could have happily stayed much longer than our time allowed.
I could see that it would be a difficult place to find if you go without a guide but it is so worth the effort and promises a meal and experience you will always remember.

I had lunch at the Escale Creole. The guide took us there after visiting the Northern part of the island.
As soon as you enter the property, you can feel an amazing energy. Lovely flowers everywhere and, just as lovely is the owner, which will welcome you with fresh juice and a warm smile.
The atmoshere, the food, the service and the music - all amazing!

Thank you!
