Blissful

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 19 Jun 2017
We had an incredibly relaxing time at The Orchard at Peora. The attention to detail given here is commendable - from the soaked almonds by your bedside, healthy juices served to kick-start your day to the "colour of the day" scarf that was neatly laid down in the room every night. Just the kind of getaway one needs when you want to get away from city life and recharge those batteries - apart from kicking back with a good book with superb views of the Himalayas you can also go for treks nearby or indulge in a spot of star-gazing ( truly an incredible experience.) Food is exceptional - we really looked forward to every meal here - our favourite being the Kumaoni thali. What really impressed me most was how warm everyone was - thank you team Orchard at Peora for going out of your way to make sure I had a truly wonderful birthday. The little private sit-out overlooking the mountains was just perfect. I really hope to come back again soon.

This vacation was planned well ahead of time to spend quality time with my family. It sounds cliche and I didn't expect it to come true to the extend that it did. I had my husband and my 3 year old daughter looking forward to spend time together away from delhi's pollution and all the modern devices that apparently bring people together.. I was browsing online and remember stumbling upon the Orchard and somehow not believing the pictures of the food they had put on the website so I called and remember getting connected to Siddharth. I asked him bluntly if the food pictures were for real or just off the internet ;) to which he humbly reassured that it was for real.. I am embarrassed that i even asked cause every single meal blew my mind. Every little detail that went behind the menu was outstanding and the best part was that all the ingredients were carefully home grown in the orchard or hand picked fresh and healthy keeping in mind my dietary needs and preferences.. I am so glad that there are no TVs or loud telecom phone rings.. all you could hear were the birds or their 2 adorable pet dogs - Gabbar and Simba.. The view from our room and the property was amazing and we were surrounded by pine trees and a view of the Himalayas if you got lucky in the morning (which we did!).. I love that the place is eco friendly and they have solar heaters, water harvesting and minimalist yet strong quality approach in every thing they do.. i felt like i was at home when we had Siddharth and Aunty join us for our first meal and literally treat us like we were their guests at home. My daughter ate very well every single day and all the meals which is always nice for health freaks like me..Wait let me not forget soaked almonds on my bed side. I mean i couldn't believe it!! It got a nice broad smile on my face cause its such a tradition we are all hooked on to in India and I did not expect it at all.. my daughter also learned the concept of color of the day and nicely wrapped herself in the scarfs given to us.. We had 3 full days so I was excited and asked if she could experience being in the orchard for real so i mean sow seeds, water plants, pluck fruits and plough the potatoes. I hardly mentioned it and without realizing there was a full blown orchard trip organized by Aunty (Sid's mom) and the gardener! Naira had a fantastic time and I loved seeing her do it with her little hands! I can go on forever so want to conclude that traveling is great so you can meet new people, make new friends and gather new experiences and we did it all! We will stay in touch with Sid and Aunty and will surely visit again with our friends and family! Good Luck to The Orchard!

To celebrate our 20th anniversary we headed to Peora with friends at the end of May, and what a delight our trip was. Having traveled intensely all over the world, The Orchard was outstanding. The whole experience from the food to the tiny details of soaked almonds on your bedside at night and color signifying stoles for the next day were truly amazing. The hosts Sangeeta and Rahul Bansal left no stone unturned to make us comfortable. The Surprise was on the night of our anniversary as we sat and enjoyed the outdoors, Rahul simply asked me if I enjoyed samosas...an Indian favorite, I said yes and he pretended to check with his chef if they could be made, in a split second as I turned around and voila Samosas arrived on a tray!!!!!! Smart move Rahul!! Thanks for the wonderful stay and hoping to come back again soon. I highly recommend the place.

I travelled to The Orchard a couple of weeks ago and was surprised at how easy it was to get there, we had a very relaxing drive from Delhi, we left early and reached around 11.30 am, the drive was very scenic however I believe there is a flight as well to Uttarakhand.

The hotel looked like the kind you would want to see in the hills, beautiful structure, that added to the beauty of the landscape. The hallways stood tall and the arches and colors gave it a warmth, like that of a European villa.

Our room had a full frontal view of the mountain range, it felt like a great lookout point to clear your head and reflect. Each part of the room hosted furniture picked our specifically for that very room making them feel personalized and well thought out. The room was also very spacious which was nice and the personal touches around the room were certainly not missed on us, every morning we woke up to soaked almonds on our bed side which I thought was a really nice touch. The bathrooms were really nice too, kitted with wonderful Ayurvedic products and hooked up to solar panels as well.

The food was something that excited me as well, the chef was incredible, every meal was of a different genre of cuisine and plated beautifully, the food was fantastic and the chef even took into consideration the dietary restrictions of some of the guests by making them personalized meals and making them feel truly taken care off
      .
The common areas in the resort were warm and cozy, perfect place to hang out with your friends or curl up with a book! They have two beautiful dogs as well, they don’t come into the resort but you can play with them in the garden!

The support staff at the orchard were friendly, very efficient and all in all fantastic. I really enjoyed my weekend getaway and highly recommend the orchard to anyone looking to get out of town relax and surround yourself with beauty. Perfect romantic getaway as well as a great place to go with a group of friends. If you are adventurous then there great trails and mountain hikes in the area as well!

We were two couples and had the most relaxed and amazing Holliday! Both the owners Rahul and Sangeeta were great company and excellent hosts! Their staff is the best I have seen so far in any of the resorts. They probably have one the best chefs who would lay out anything that was asked for. I have not eaten such good and healthy food in a while whilst away from home! Almost all the food served is home grown and organic, what else would one want!!! The place is very comfortable and so is the environment that makes you feel at home. I do not have any negative point at all that I think off! It's a must do on your list if your looking at value for your money and visiting one of the nicer places up in the mountains!

I recently visited The Orchard with some close friends and can easily say it was one of the greatest experiences of I’ve ever had. Having traveled a fair amount myself, I've stayed at quite a few internationally famous hotels over the years. After coming to The Orchard its fair to say that it's now at the top of my list. I know with confidence that the talented people behind this hotel have the art of creating a lifetime experience completely down.

I stayed at the Orchard for almost 10 days, and each day was completely different in terms of variety of cuisines prepared for our every meal, to the cultural and outdoor activities planned in and around the property.

Having traveled and eaten original Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Thai, American, and Indian food its safe to say that the food being cooked in the Orchard's kitchen has some of the most authentic flavors you'll ever taste. The attention to detail when it came to making sure we had personalized meal plans according to our likes, dislikes, and cravings was amazing. Unlike other hotels which force you to stick to a basic menu with the same 20 dishes made every day, or will set specific times for the guests to eat throughout their stay; The Orchard came with a LOT more options. Not only do they present you freshly cooked meals whenever you please, but you also get a million personalized dishes to choose from. The menus are created with tremendous effort and cater exactly to your liking. I woke up everyday excited to see what they had in store and was blown away each and every time. The ingredients which are mostly grown on The Orchard itself are so rich and natural that you can taste their freshness. Unlike other places which over-spice or garnish the food, The Orchard chooses to shine through the simplicity of their ingredients and no meal is too heavy or exaggerated. The food here gets a 15/10.

The service and staff is also unmatched. Somehow they are always there to attend to your needs without seeming like they are overstepping any boundaries. Quiet, humble, and absolutely to the point. I remember quietly noting which cookies I enjoyed the most while having my tea, the next time I was served I was surprised to see they had personally changed my plate so that I had exactly what I wanted. This was all without me even personally mentioning it to them- the attention to detail again and again is one of the greatest aspects of The Orchard. Sometimes its the small things that make the biggest differences. I noticed they also place water soaked almonds next to your bed so that you have a nutritious start to your day- this is something my mother used to do for me growing up at home and its such a simple gesture that speaks volumes.

With all the good food and amazing service you’d be surprised what more they have in store for you. You could easily spend a day on the balcony watching the blue skies and beautiful view of the Himalayan peaks. For someone who is from the city and used to constant noise and traffic this is absolute heaven. I started questioning why I wasn’t living in Peora in the first place. The hours just flew by relaxing, taking in the breathtaking views and interesting village activity that you never get to see in the city. The first day I asked for wi-fi connection as I usually do when checking in, but here, by the second day I didn’t even want it. I spent the rest of the week walking around the beautiful property, checking out their garden where they grow all the fruits and vegetables, played with the two most gorgeous and loving dogs you’ll ever meet; Gabbar and Simba, who I grew so attached to that by the time we had to leave I wanted to just take them with me. Besides that we also got the opportunity to go on a jeep drive around the hills as well as trekking down to a thousand year old Shiva temple in the woods. To be completely in nature without any connectivity to the outside world was the greatest gift I could ask for. I was able to set everything aside and just focus on the beauty around me.

In addition to this when the day was finally over I was still looking forward to the greatest thing one can ask for, uninterrupted deep sleep. The.beds. are. insane. They were probably crafted by the Gods because I have never slept like I did that week. It took me less than 10 seconds to fall asleep and when it was time to wake up the only thing that got me going was the excitement of what they had in store for breakfast. I could live in that bed. I don’t even know what to say other than the fact that the furniture not only looks beautiful but also feels like absolute heaven.

I thought this would be a short and to the point review but I cannot brush past all the things that made me fall in love with The Orchard. Hats off to the Bansal family which have put insane amounts of hard work and dedication to give their guests the kind of experience that is unmatched. Places like The Orchard can only be created and run by those that have a true passion for traveling, and have seen the world from many different perspectives, thus creating an experience that is unbeatable. This kind of personalized care and service is what you find at places that have been made with genuine love and care. I would rather opt for The Orchard a million times over than any 5 Star hotel.

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. I can’t wait to go again and again.

Room tip: Every single room has an amazing view.
