Overall our stay was ok. Food was good but not overwhelming. Service was friendly and nice. We had on day a young Ranger which was deployed a bit too early in our opinion. Upon highlighting this we had a more experienced one and were satisfied. Rooms are basic but ok. You need a guard to go from the Lounge to your Room after dinner, but you go on your own to the dinner in the dark. Where is the logic? WiFi is very, very slow. Not so nice was to hear the Traffic Noise from the nearby N2.
Overall it was ok but our conclusion was, in future only NP and self drive.

My husband and I loved our 3 nights at the Rhino River Lodge! This was our first time on safari and in South Africa and it was a special time. We arrived in time for lunch then we were off for our first safari with Murray as our guide and the other guests in our Land Rover...who quickly became like family. Murray was an excellent spotter and always made sure we could all see the wildlife. We followed 3 cheetahs down the road; watched a lioness and her 2 adolescents taking an afternoon snooze in the riverbed, totally unconcerned by us. White rhinos in double digits. Hippos. A herd of Cape Buffalo, up close and personal in the water. There were wildebeests, eagles, nylas, kudu, and leopard tortoise (one of the "little 5"). Magnificant giraffes and their offspring were spotted frequently. Zebras. We even saw the leopard thanks to Murray. He spotted a drag across the riverbed, then the kill, and after much work (and patience) were able to see a leopard tail flicking back and forth (and we like to think perhaps 2 and maybe babies??) and then he tried one more time the next morning. We were rewarded with and got to see the leopard slip up over the rocks at the end of our last game drive. In addition, Murray is charming, full of educational and fun facts.

The whole team is attentive and friendly. Our room was very comfortable with our own little viewing deck to watch the many warthogs, impalas and nyalas wandering around the camp. Returning from morning safari and breakfast, the room was clean and ready for nap time before lunch, some swimming and then out again for sunset safari. We appreciated the turn down service after returning from dinner. This is an affordable and personalized all inclusive experience.

Dear Jennifer,

Thank-you so much for your valued review.
I am so happy to hear that you had such a great time with us and that you felt or became apart of our little family.

It gets even better for me when I read that you had so many spectacular animal sightings in different settings and of coarse the infamous leopard! How lucky you all were, Murray is extremely lucky and of coarse skilled when it comes to leopards on our property.
If you have any images to share of this sighting please feel free to post on our social media sites!

I will most definitely pass all your praises onto the staff here at the lodge as these are always very uplifting for us all.

Thank-you so much once again and we cant wait to host you again and find you those Elephants!

My husband and 12year old son had an amazing time at Rhino River Lodge.
The game drives and game viewing was fantastic!
The staff are what make this lodge 5+
We stayed in The cottage which I can highly recommend, the extra $$ for either The Cottage or The Homestead is worth every cent!
Thanks Rhino River Lodge!

Our trip to Rhino River started with 5 Rhinos, 1 Tortoise and 3 Cheetahs, all from the transfer vehicle before we had officially arrived.
Our extended family of 14 had a wonderful holiday at Rhino River.
All the staff did everything they could to ensure our stay was perfect, our party included 7 children and the staff included them in the whole experience. Our rangers were Kyle, Rebecca and Murray who educated us on all and answered endless questions.
We occupied all 4 cottages on the property, which suited all our needs. The food was well presented, delicious and plentiful.
Would recommend Rhino River highly to both couples and families.
We are still looking for our Leopard.

Room Tip: The cottages are ideal for families or larger groups.

Hello Cadorin Family!

We are all so excited to hear about your great time with us.
It is always such a pleasure reading reviews like this one and it truly motivates us all to continue providing our best service, Thank-you very much for this review.

I am still shocked on what you saw just on driving into the reserve, It is amazing how the bush works, but its great that you got to experience it all, especially with the Children.
These are memories they will never forget! Its fantastic to hear Our rangers fulfilled your expectations and kept things interesting, but I have to admit I too feel we have a great team here at Rhino River Lodge.
I will pass on your comments to all the staff from you all.

Ps: I am sorry you missed the leopard but this is atleast one reason to back, as we had an amazing Leopard sighting yesterday afternoon keep a look out on our Facebook page for the posts - Coming Soon!

We hope to host you all again in the near future!

We travelled to Rhino River Lodge with our extended family (14 in total, ages 7 to 66 years old). We had a wonderful time. We found the staff accommodating and friendly.
We thought the food choice was excellent, they were even able to cater for the people in our group with food allergies.
We saw a large variety of animals, only missing the leopard from the Big 5. As we were such a large group we spent time with Murray, Rebecca and Kyle on the game drives. They were all knowledgeable and friendly.
The only caution I would have is that there is not a lot for children to do between the morning and afternoon game drives. The pool was nice but not very warm when we visited so you may need to plan ahead and pack books/games if travelling with children. Having said that we had a fabulous time and would return if we are ever in South Africa again.

Dear Craig,

Thank-you for your great review, it was such a pleasure hosting you all and we are so happy to hear that everyone including the Children enjoyed their stay and had great game sightings.

Travelling with Children can sometimes be difficult to keep them entertained I can understand. We are however in a central area where guests can easily access outsourced activities that are near by, Such as the Elephant Interaction you had done, as well as the St Lucia trip where you saw all the Hippo's (Even in the Rain) Alternatively if you are not wanting to leave the camp for day excursions, for those who do need a little extra for the Children to keep busy between game drives we do have a curio shop in camp where we have a variety of Children's games and bits and bobs for them to do that you could purchase.

Once again thank-you so much for this amazing review and we look forward to hosting you all again in the near future.
