I am an avid traveler and research areas extensively before I travel to them. This place was misleading online.

We landed in Cat Island at dark (5:30p). When we arrived at the “resort”, it was poorly lit but the car headlights revealed a barrack style wooden building. We were walked to our room which is nothing we ever saw online. The cute individual bungalows pictured online was what we were expecting. We were led into a one room “comfort studio” that was nothing to be excited about. These “comfort studio” rooms are barrack style. The comfort studios are 6 rooms in one building/under one roof. Each with a door to the outside. No sliding glass doors as pictured. You have a front door and a frosted window that you cannot see in/out of. Wood exterior. We were completely shocked.
The other couple staying there was just as disappointed & shocked upon arrival as we were. We all felt misled by the pics online.
When we asked about the pictured bungalows, we were told they were all empty (as no one else was here) but not clean/available to look at. If we wanted to stay there, it would be an up charge.

Felecia, owner’s daughter, kindly picked us up at the New Bight airport. She handled check in/check out, cooking, etc. She is a very talented cook. Her meal presentation was beautiful and food tasty. The seafood offerings were $40+ so we opted to keep our dining tabs lower by choosing other options.

Coffee maker in room is a keurig. Room has a small refrigerator, microwave and basic dishes, stemless wine glasses.

Shower had hot water.
Good WiFi.
No daily maid service.
Plugs in room are oddly situated. Bedside lamp is for decor only as no plug was close to use.

The room does have a tv. The advertised Netflix never worked for us. Typically, this wouldn’t be a big deal but we had several hours in the room due to rain showers/storms. No chair to sit on nor anything to put luggage on in the room. No view of water. Two pillows offered for the queen sized bed. When we asked for 1 extra pillow we were told we get 2 total, no extras. Was just strange because they were so vacant and another pillow had to be available. What most upset us about our stay was the misleading online pics and their attitude about it. When I expressed the photos honestly need to be updated she responded that they were accurate online. The photo on my reservation print out is NOT anything like the room we were put into. Booking this place from the US, sight unseen, I guarantee you will be in shock for what you may end up with. So I will add accurate pics to this review so no one else feels scammed like we did. When you are the only place vacant on the island and 3 couples who check in, frantically start looking for another place to stay, you should know you have a problem with how your facility is marketed and your attitude about making it right.

You will need a rental car to get around the Island. Most places, including this one, are not located walking distance to anything. The family who runs this resort does own a rental car company and offer rentals at $65/day.

They have swimming pigs just north of this resort. The resort owns them. They offer a boat ride for around $20 to see them. We were told it is about a 10 min ride.

I truly hope this place has success. Updating facility photos, being more transparent online so expectations are met, and having an attitude for making the guests stay as enjoyable and memorable as possible will yield them success.

In all transparency, we opted for the ambiance and outstanding customer service of Fernandez Bay Village. We were treated like family and will definitely return to stay with them again.

This is a new resort with modern villas on the beach! We have now visited most of the other resorts on the island and they are very dated. Great location in New Bight, you can walk to grocery store and some food snacks are just two miles down the beach. They have a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great place to stay. Paddle boards and kayaks are free to use during your stay.

Ezra is a very welcoming host with lots of fun things to do... kayaks, SUP, beautiful beach. The food is wonderful and we enjoyed several days of hanging out here even though we weren’t staying at the resort. What we saw of the rooms were beautiful and well appointed.
