Excellent restaurant come her every Saturday after a very stressful shopping day and the well mannered and talkative staff just put you in a fab mood , large range of food for all ages and good entertainment most days , food expensive for a pub.

Went here on a recommendation from someone. We had boneless ribs with crackling a and Apple sauce. This was on the starter menu but also did it as a main. So we had it as a main. It came on a smallish plate 3 small pieces a bit of green and a little pot of Apple sauce. We asked the waitress whether it was the main ribs as it looked like it was a starter. She said yes it was the main. And she said when we pointed out the size that it is really a starter we said we ordered the main. So we paid £8.50 for the ribs £2.25 for the chips.. The chips were under done the ribs were hard, the fat on the edge soft. The crackling they forgot to put on. It was all un eatable. We also had a £5 special of liver smoked bacon and onions with chips. The bacon was fatty and you got two small bits of onion. All in all this visit was a disaster. We were not offered a discount or anything she just wasn't interested in our complaints. We'll never go there again.

Went on Sunday 24th July for a roast dinner for five of us. We were all really pleased with our meals and the personal, friendly service! Roast beef and roast turkey were ordered. All the veg was in five separate dishes for the five meals with a selection of three vegetables in each dish, including stuffing for the turkey order.
A really tasty, hot meal with good service is all you can wish for! It actually cost £70 for five people with a drink each. Good value!!!
I am so surprised that this place is not higher in the trip advisor ratings. Well done for a lovely meal on the way to a hotel in Leeds!

Lovely pleasant helpful ladies behind the bar and the serving staff. Truly friendly. So no problems there.

Food
Horrendous. The pie was like something you would buy from a cheap four pack at pound store. And it was covered in a peppery taste on the pastry which overrides the taste of the pie of which there was none. The peas were like bullets. My friend had gammon which was tough and rather stringy. The egg was way overcooked and the pineapple was limp and a little burnt.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
Will not be eating any major meal here again unless with friends and then it will be a salad as they can't go wrong with that. There are other great pubs around that do fantastic pub grub.. home made.. and cheaper.
Not worth the money or the bad aftertaste.
After speaking to many friends and colleagues they also said they had a similar experience and would not return. It's a real shame because location is good.
Sorry guys but it has had to be said.

I visited here with my son and two young grandsons for lunch before going to the nearby Lancaster Park & Animal Farm. The food was delicious and the children's meals were plentiful. There are a number of reasonably priced dishes on the menu. I had Cumberland sausage with mash and caramelized onions, my son had a burger and along with two children's meals and a drink each for the grown ups it was a very reasonable £27. The staff were polite and efficient and the food was piping hot. There is a lovely outside seating area overlooking the canal which is lovely on a fine day. I would recommend this lovely pub
