We arrived at Fawkes House after a hectic two weeks in New Zealand and a week in Sydney, so we were ready to relax and take it easy. We stayed in the cottage which is quietly situated on the side of the main house. It was a real home from home. The bed was very comfortable, with high quality linen and the room with its antique furniture and wood flooring was calming and peaceful. There was a sitting room with flat screen tv and dvd player, comfy sofa, fridge and complimentary tea, coffee and port. The bathroom was lovely with spa bath and shower.

Caroline and Richard, the owners, were very helpful and gave us lots of hints and information about the local area, the Perth Hills. Their large garden is full of interesting plants and flowers, trees and shrubs and has many places to relax in. We enjoyed watching the birds and listening to the birdsong.

Caroline did a wonderful breakfast which was served on the veranda, overlooking the garden. The area has many orchards and locally produced fruit and vegetables which are used in all the meals Caroline makes. We also enjoyed a wine tasting at the winery opposite Fawkes House. Although we did not have a spa treatment, Caroline did show us her treatment room which looked, with its high ceiling and dark wooden floor, an excellent place to relax.

We have no hesitation in recommending Fawkes House and would also like to say thanks to Caroline and Richard for such a relaxing stay.

I surprised my husband with a getaway for our 10th wedding anniversary. Caroline was most welcoming even though we arrived late in the day. She showed us around and it was no effort on her part to cook a meal for us. The dessert was delicious!!!! The room we stayed in was Fawkes cottage, it was tastefully decorated and very clean. The spa was relaxing, and we learn't that we should go easy on the bubbles. My only complaint was the pillows were very soft. The bed was comfy plus. I did expect that the gardens would have been lit up at night so you could really enjoy your surroundings. In the morning we enjoyed cereals, homemade spreads and fresh fruit. This was followed by a fully cooked breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs. All in all, we totally enjoyed our experience.

Have to say this is one of the nicest B & B's we have stayed at.
Lovely hosts including the four legged kind, awesome food. We just wanted to relax and we did. Relaxing spa, cosy rooms, lovely hammock, don't need to take a book, magazine or DVD all there for your enjoyment. Nice setting to explore.

We can't wait to go back. Thanks again Richard and Caroline!

Just returned from having one the best nights away and weekends we have had. Fawkes House is perfect for that quiet get away when you want to get out of the city for the weekend. It is located in amongst a couple of gorgeous little wineries and the accommodation, is clean, well presented and stoked with local goods, from toiletries, to chocolate to wine.

You could not ask more of the breakfast that was served out on the veranda and while we missed out on dining there for dinner (Because Caroline and Richard were off accepting a 'Small Business of the Year Award' which to me is more than decent excuse and thoroughly deserved) I am sure the dinner is as delightfully prepared as the breakfast. Caroline could not have been more apologetic for not being able to cook for us even though she had no reason too.

Caroline and Richard are great, giving you the privacy you want but being there should you have any requests.

Overall I would recommend Fawkes House for that quiet weekend away without hesitation and hope to return again for a longer stay next time. Kalamunda Farmers Markets were also a great place to stock up on local produce before returning to the city, with local honey, bread, pastries, jams and so much more available from the stalls set up in the mall.

Thank you so much for a great night away and hope to return soon.

Tim and Angela

Well unfortunately the accommodation was disappointing on many levels. Firstly we had no fresh flowers in the room as promised on the website, the room was tiny and looked nothing like we expected. We could only afford one meal as roast beef for two with a desert was $55 each which is very overpriced. We were served breakfast one hour late one morning and given a bar of out of date chocolate as an apology. The staff when we arrived (lady) seemed like she had better things to do and was not very friendly. This trip was for our first wedding anniversary and so very disappointing all round.

It was disappointing to read your review as we pride ourselves in our high levels of customer service. The Coach House is always very popular with our guests and has both a bed area and a sitting area with an extra large bathroom and private courtyard. We did apologised profusely for the late breakfast. a result of a time change for us after a holiday away. We allow our guests to say the time they would like all meals and serve them in a choice of one of our several attractive areas. We are a very small establishment and only ever cater for 2 couples. All dishes are handmade and utilise the best local and where possible organic ingredients. We have enjoyed boundless praise for our dishes from guests and they often return and savour the same menu choices when they re book. Previous guests have commented on how welcome they have been made and we sincerely apologise if you felt you didnt receive sufficient attention.
