This was our 2nd time to this resort. Last time we stayed in the Sea Palms section and were disappointed with the amount of palmetto bugs that were in the unit. This time we decided to give the premier units of King Cotton section of the resort a try and were much happier. We did find one bug in the 2 days we were there, but it was dying, so we knew the place had been sprayed. As for the unit, it was a 3 bedroom/4 bathroom with 3 nice covered screened in patios. We sat on one patio and ate breakfast while watching golfers 2 mornings. The kitchen was huge and well equiped for our small group. The fridge had an ice maker/water dispenser in the door. There was also a filtered water dispenser at the kitchen sink. We had a little trouble with the tv and had maintenance come over, but he was personable and quick. The master bedroom was quite large with a walk in closet and a HUGE bathroom complete with separate shower and jacuzzi tub. The beds were comfy. The other 2 bedrooms also had in suite bathrooms. The shampoo and conditioners supplied were a full ounce larger then the usual ones. There was even an elevator in the unit. It was sort of hidden, but once we found it and figured out how to work it, we enjoyed being lazy and using it, especially when taking our luggage back to the car. The one really odd thing with the place was the wiring for the stairwell that leads up to the bedrooms. If you turn on the lights downstairs, the switch upstairs did not turn those lights off. We had to lower the switch halfway to get the lights to shut off. This unit was certainly more updated and cleaner then the Sea Palms unit we stayed in before. We even found the private beach the last night we were there. Too bad we didn't find it sooner. That beach is probably a great place to watch the dolphins from. We also happened to be there at the mating season of Horseshoe crabs! It was odd seeing so many Horseshoe crabs all over the beach near the inlet. Hopefully we will be back!

Room Tip: Stay in the King Cotton section if possible.

We read all the reviews before arriving at the resourt. We stayed at Marsh Point because it had an elevator. All the appliances were fine. The TV's were all the older CRT type and should be upgraded. The rugs were dirty and the couch and chairs were stained. Furniture in this condition should be replaced. We did not see any insects in the unit. There is no mid week maid service as there is in other resorts.
The worst part of the stay was the presentation we had to endure that was supposed to be about changes to RCI. It turned out to be a sales pitch for Wyndham Vacation Club. When we wanted to leave after more then 90 minutes of speaking to a rep one on one he became very upset. He said he was trying to help us. In fact he was trying to sell us something we did not want. We expressed that we were satisfied with RCI several times. We just got up and left. We did not come to the resort to be subjected to a sales pitch.
The town of Edesto is very quiet an is the perfect spot to get away from it all. It has not been commercialized in the least. There are no chain resturants or stores. There is a short walk to an unspoiled beach. If you want some entertainment Charleston is only about an hour away.

Stayed in Sea Palms section and was told was one of the oldest sections. Many places have been remodeled at Ocean Ridge but not these. This condo was in the worst condition of any place I have ever stayed. Carpet was nasty and stained with bleach. Microwave oven was cracked in the back and leaking something (health hazard). Bugs and spider webs in the bedroom. Check-in staff was not helpful and offered no assitance or resolution. Asked for the manager and was told he/she was always in a meeting. Manager never called and never offered assistance. We were even told by some employees of Wyndham that they wouldn't even stay in such filth. I wouldn't return to the place if it was free.

Wyndham Ocean Ridge is a quiet and peaceful complex with about 200 plus units. It is located in a forest of live oaks, palms and pines on a golf course located on the south end of Edisto Island. It is highly family oriented with the beach about a quarter of a mile away with a nice private beach pavilion for owners and guests. Shuttle to the beach for your use. I would highly recommend this resort for families with children and teenagers. It is also very nice for seniors who just want to take it easy and relax. If you are looking for night life it is not the best place. It is close to Charleston, S.C. Staff was excellent and very helpful.

Room Tip: Most rooms require being able to climb at least 2 flights of stairs. There are a few units that hav...

We recently stayed at this property. NOT up to par for a Wyndham property. The carpet was stained...there were holes in the bathroom tub where a handle had been torn off and not replaced. There was rust around the tub fixtures that they had tried to "caulk" with black caulk. The beds were very old and showed it (sagging and dirty) The bedspread was way too large for the bed and bunched on the floor. (I suspect it was a king size they were using on a queen) The kitchen was outdated, with drawers that were broken and stuck. It also needed a good cleaning. (dust and cobwebs in the cupboards) The furniture was dirty and stained, and we had roaches visit us at night. The two bedroom/loft was a bit awkward as we had several "couples" and there was no privacy. For a family or a group of college kids this set up would work well. The island was nice if you like being away from everything and don't mind traveling to Charleston (1 1/2 hours away). They had a golf course and pools, but for us the pools were a bit of a walk...as was the beach. Overall, I've been to many other places that were much nicer....this one did not meet my expectations by a long shot!
