“Great holiday in Patnem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2010

Just returned from Patnem a couple of days ago. Stayed in Sabai Sabai after reading Trip advisor reviews. Planned to stay for 2 days and move on to other Goa beaches , but stayed at Sabai Sabai for our whole 8 days stay in Goa. We stayed in the AC room, not in the huts. The beach is 2 minutes walk, quiet sourroundings. The room had en-suite tiled bathroom with warm water. Room clean, with comfortable mattress and TV (satelite with Western channels available). The owners of Sabai Sabai Delphine and Mario were very nice and helpful. The main advantage was the excellent and safe food - Mario is a great chef and what he "creates" could very well have been served in a posh Italian restaurant anywhere in Europe. We were planning on having mostly Indian food, but after checking out other places we usually ate at Sabai Sabai since the food was just so good - seafood and other delicacies - "fish soup", grilled tuna with olives and tomatoes, as well as delicious desserts such as tiramisu or strawberry cake. So in Sabai Sabai we had all the infrastructure we needed - clean room, cold with AC when we wanted to cool down after a day at the beach, warm shower and wonderful food prepared according to European sanitary standards.
The Patnem Beach did not dissappoint us - the sea is clean, the sand white the beac is beautiful with the hills in the horizon and palm trees on the edge of the sand. Also it is not crowded, which is a rare case anywhere in the world. The shopkeepers in the Beachroad were not pushy. Hope Patnem stays that way!
We made some trips to Panji and Old Goa, visited Chapora and Cabo di Rama and Fort Aquada. The ride through the dense jungle to Patnem was stunning.
Since this was our first trip to Goa we were a bit apprehensive on arrival, but everything turned out great and it was a wonderful holiday. We are already planning to come back again to Patnem and Sabai Sabai in December! Thank you Mario and Delphine!

Nice place, well run, clean and very peacefull.

Exellent food (not properly cheap but absolutelly tasty).

We stay 6 days in thei AC room, later, after coming back from Kerala we spent other 3 nights there in a cottage (rooms were full).

The room is clean, confortable and well organize.

Cottage are smaller, no A\C, though they have something of romantic (my wife found).

So far a pleasent stay.

PS do not miss the sea food pasta.....it is just amazing

Sabai cottages is a very peacefull place in Patnem, has luxury huts made in wood and few rooms in a small building.
It's very clean and the owners (French) are very nice and helpfull.
In the room you have hot water which is uncommon in Ptnem and Palolem, plus the beds with their spacious and clean nets and confortable matress make your sleeping very confortable.
The food in the restaurant is the best i had in Goa, little expensive but worth it. Staff very kind.
It s only few meters from the beach.
I m planning to go there again next year.
They ask 1100 INR for a pick up at the airport, if you go with a prepaid taxi by yourself you can get there with 850-900 (after bargain of course!).
