We are Goa regulars. But we have always been drawn to the beaches of North Goa. That changed when we discovered Canacona in the South of Goa, with its two adjacent beaches – Petnem and Palolem. Or the clubbing set North Goa has the real action, but for longer, relaxed holidays, especially with children in yow, there’s nothing to beat Petnem and Palolem. The exquisite German Bakery, and the great restaurants around the area make Canacona arguably among the top food destinations of Goa.
We’ve explored home stay options in diverse destinations (including Bali where it’s a hit), but in India we’ve inevitably found the accommodation to be subprime. The best properties, the ones with titled roofs, a little car park, patch of land front and back, a few trees, you know the ones you look at and think, “I’d like to buy this place!” are never available for hire. You get crummy rooms in sandbagged apartments that are cheap all right, but little else.
Coco House takes its names from the coconut palms in the property. And the stay feels like one spent under the shade in the open. Enough space. A Patio. Place to hang-dry clothes. Basically loads of space on the outside.
Inside the German hand of the owner is evident (like a front loading washing machine). All mod cons are in place. And help Zarina is a great person to have around. Provision stores are at hand, as is a saloon for a head massage!
Frankly at Rs 5000 a night, for two well appointed bedrooms (plus a kids hangout room), its a steal.
We have found our home in Goa. We hope pothers who visit and stay at Coco house will also find theirs!
