Although we checked into the adjoining Roop Vilas Palace - that is the 'now-disenchanted, sublet to Club Mahindra' half of the original haveli... we strayed into the main road facing portion - the Roop Niwas Kothi premises, late at night looking for a restaurant option... and decided the Kothi is the definitive stay option for the next trip.
We were pleasantly surprised to discover it had a lovely porch... a welcome relief after the closed confined space of the restaurant at Roop Vilas. A warm conversation with the owner's daughter in the homely Roop Niwas Kothi lounge, we decided to dine there, learnt a bit about the family and decided to return for breakfast, also to see their stables and stud farm... thats where we were the next morning... I loved the horses... we met the owner there, and whilst he attended to his passion, he was gracious enough to spend time with us - patiently answering my queries, amidst the occasional stern instruction to a stable hand. We saw the arena, paddock and stud farm. They have short training programs for the Greens; and for the Veterans - the full-fledged cross-country safaris. No horsing around here for sure...
The Roop Vilas Palace... errrr..... well, a far cry from whats projected... they seemed the ones horsing around, sans the horse!!! No pun intended!

A wonderful hotel in Nawalgarh, the property was very clean, friendly and nice. Everything was well kept.
Excellent and a peaceful location. The owners of the hotel and their staff offered outstanding hospitality. Delicious food , with a huge choice in there A-la-carte menu the food was simply ambrosius. Lovely lush green gardens with birds chirping makes it an amazing attraction for bird lovers like me and the stables of roopniwas is yet another attraction for horse lovers they even offer riding lessons to the non riders ,the horses are very well kept and the stable adds a rural charm to the place. The rooms are very cozy and clean with lovely ethnic furniture and huge clean bathrooms providing all the basic amenities .The swimming pool was amazing and clean as well.
In short i had the most amazing and wonderful experience of my life. No doubt out of all heritage hotels i visited in India, this was one of the nicest by far. I loved the place and would love to go again and again.

We enjoyed a pleasant couple of days in July at Roop Niwas Kothi, which is situated an easy 2.5 - 3 hrs drive from Jaipur, in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. It’s a beautifully converted family manse that offers true Rajasthani hospitality, right from the moment you arrive. We stayed in the suite, which is beautifully appointed with lovely views of the ground from the sitting room.

The day was spent exploring the small town of Nawalgarh, and admiring the beautiful frescoes and murals at some of the nearby havelis. Back at the hotel, we were treated to an enthralling sight in the early evening—to see the many horses that Roop Niwas Kothi own and use for their equestrian tours, come running from the stables to their feeding stalls. The rest of the evening passed just relaxing in the main verandah, listening to the birds and the peacocks, watching the sun go down. The food was delicious as well, with plenty to choose from as they offer quite a varied a la carte menu along with a buffet option.

We would definitely come back to this lovely spot in such a tranquil setting, and can recommend it for those looking for a taste of rural Rajasthan in a charming setting.

This place is so beautifully located, away from the hustle bustle of the Nawalgarh town that it is extremely peaceful. one thing which really attracts me to this place is the greenery, different species of birds and flying peacocks . The rooms are very cozy and nice, with the staff always smiling and gentle. the Indian and Rajasthani food is delicious.

The first hitch we got when booking - we exchanged some friendly emails with the hotel manager, but only he speaks decent English - when we phoned to confirm our arrival, we found that the staff barely speak English. It became clear on arrival that this is a sleepy old family mansion on the outskirts of Nawalgarh, with nicely tended gardens, horse stables and pretty communal areas, but reception is only manned sporadically, the restaurant is defunct unless there's a large group staying or you order your evening meal in the morning, but you can usually find someone if you need them. Our room in an annexe was spacious, veru old furniture, simple but stylish, and spotlessly clean. For the first time on our trip in india, there were near unlimited supplies of toilet roll, the bed was one of the comfiest ever, and although our deluxe room was simple, it was very comfortable and was cleaned every day. Breakfast in a starchy dark dining room is poor for a hotel in this price range - omelette and instant coffee. We had to catch an early ride to Delhi one morning and were told breakfast would be served from 7am - when we pitched up at 7, we were told staff had not yet arrived, and breakfast arrived nearer to 8 - of course, we missed the fast coach to Delhi and ended up riding in some old bone-shaker bus but apart from complete unreliablitity and the quality of breakfast, I couldn't say anything bad about this lovely old hotel that time seems to have forgotten.

Horse riding is offered but a little pricey but horses appear to be well looked-after and looked healthy. I'd stay there again, simply because there isn;t much else to stay other than the more basic Apad Dhani and the new Haveli Grand.
