We'd just landed in Italy after a very traumatic journey so were a bit dazed and confused, but were fortunate to stumble on this very Italian restaurant for Sat lunch. It was heaving and it took us a while to work out the ticketing process, but the food was Italian "fast food" at its best and we thoroughly enjoyed eating it under the trees overlooking the lake.

Absolutely love this place for lunches, but it isn't for the faint of heart. Looks like it has been updated to a new service location in the front, but the craziness of people and a hectic pace remain. Service is at a counter, deli style and you take a number, then pray you can actually hear them call the number and get their attention. We did.....some others didn't. This is not too touristy, mainly locals, so it appears to be assumed that you have done this before and know what they have. I don't think this is an 'ask questions of the staff about food' place. We read the chalk board, looked behind the counter and came up with a Torta stuffed with mortadella, fresh seafood salad (calamari/shrimp, etc), a fried seafood mix, some fried stuffed olives, white wine off the tap.............so many things looked great. Was less than 25- euro. We took our tray outside to the massive seating area that overlooks Lago Trasimeno and actually found a spot where no one was smoking (amazing!). Fine dining, no. A great uninhibited lunch, yes! Very popular and crowded.

Every time we drive in the area we stop in this great and familiar spot, where you can taste the original "torta al testo". It is a sort of focaccia bread made with the "testo" (an old matrix/die to make bread in the oven).
You can order it with sausage and veggies or with cheese and veggies and just sit out in the garden.
There are other offers like fried fish and fried potatoes, but what i suggest is to ask for this special bread.
It has been recently renewed and the view on the lake is even better.
14 euros for three stuffed bread and drinks.

It was recommended we eat here by one of the locals. He told us to get the "torta".The venue is big great for kids and its next to the lake. The Lonely Planet also rated this place.

It must have changed.

It's like an Italian fast food factory pumping out flavorless Italian food on mass.

Yes the venue is big and Yes it's a great place for kids with the outdoor play set and Yes it is near the lake, but the only thing you should eat there in my opinion is the Torta con salsiccia.

This is a typical flat bread style sand-which of the region with salsiccia and salad in it.

It's delightful

The other stuff looks good and as tempting as it may be, don't get it. Only go for the Torta.
