We just returned from a wonderful stay at Finca Rosa Blanca. We spent our last night there due to proximity to the airport and were wonderfully surprised by the beautiful grounds and service. We had an excellent experience with the staff and loved the coffee tour- very informative. The food was excellent and the hot stone massage was amazing. Highly recommend!

Dear HSBs5: We really appreciate your nice comments and your complimentary words about our spa. One of the best treatments we have, other than the hot stone massage which you enjoyed, is the organic coffee treatment, which gets rave reviews from our guests and also they can see where the coffee came from on their coffee tour, perhaps one of the best tours around. Next time, you'll have to try it.
Also, I am glad you enjoyed the food, this is one of our loves and we concentrate a lot of time and energy into this art form, a culinary compliment to the rest of the hotel. Please stay more days next time so you can experience the myriad activities, tours, cultural events and perfect climate we offer at Finca Rosa Blanca.

We've just come back from CR, having spent the last two nights in the Finca Rosa Blanca. We picked this hotel, because we wanted somewhere close to the airport to chill before a long flight back to the UK. We couldn't have imagined you could find such a beautiful and relaxing place, so close to the airport and city. We loved it and will certainly stay there again when we return to CR.

We stayed in La Piedra in the main house, it's billed as one of the smaller rooms, but was more the big enough for a couple with four large bags, the lounge, bedroom and bathroom were well proportioned and decorated in the eclatic stye of the rest of the building. Both bedroom and lounge also had great views over to the mountains and city. Although the hotel was almost certainly full, none of the public areas ever felt busy, so you could enjoy a romantic dinner in the restaurant without feeling your every word was been overheard. We made a lot of use of the pool and for the most part we had it to ourselves. I think those reviewers who had issues with the staff must have been very unlucky, as we couldn't fault the welcome and service we received. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Dear UKSwede: I really appreciate your writing in and commenting on your stay at Rosa Blanca. We pride ourselves on our service and privacy and I am so happy you really felt that while you were here. Our restaurant has many nooks and corners, a huge outdoor deck (as you well know) and the cozy interior restaurant both enjoying the culinary experience of ingredients that are in season and freshly grown from our organic greenhouse. It does get somewhat cool at night, and the fireplace is always a great romantic companion to any delicious meal. The airport is only 20 minutes away, but we can't hear it, see it our even realize it is there as it is on the other side of the mountain, which is a direct access for us. We believe a few days at Finca Rosa Blanca is a great way to end your trip, and then the short journey to the airport leaves you with great memories and energized for your trip home (I know yours was quite a long one).
Thanks for writing in.

We chose Finca Rosa Blanca based on a recommendation from a friend. What a great choice! We stayed one night at the beginning of our 10-day Costa Rican holiday and were thrilled that we would be back for two nights at the end of our trip. The staff and owner Glenn are so friendly and welcoming. We felt right at home immediately. We had the good fortune to experience two different rooms, each with its own special ambiance and features. The common areas in the main house are impressive, complete with waterfall and fireplace. The grounds are well maintained and a joy to explore. We enjoyed watching the birds and multitude of butterflies that also enjoy the lush landscaping. The coffee tour is fascinating - definitely a must! The food at the restaurant is delicious. It is expertly prepared and beautifully presented. You should try the guara mojito prepared in the bar - a delightful treat! We hope return to Finca Rosa Blanca!!

Dear Happy_Camper_2004; Thanks for writing into TA and letting everybody know about our coffee plantation and small Inn. We are happy that you could spend more than just one or two nights here, as this is when our guests really get he feel of what we have to offer and to experience in full, the combination of food, art, activities and real relaxation. It was really great to meet you and have some time to hear about your trip and to spend some time with you, as I love to do with all of our guests. See you soon?

FRB is a beautiful, peaceful spot. It's set on a hillside amidst coffee plants and trees. The restaurant is in the main building both indoor and outside. The food is superb, fresh and wonderfully flavored.
The rooms are spread out over the estate with several in a lovely building with its own waterfall and charming painted murals on many walls. None are air-conditioned but January doesn't need any.
The most luxurious unit is a cottage with wrap-around windows and window seats, a bar and king bed plus a large dressing area, toilet room and open-air (but not exposed) shower and tub room. The furnishings are lovely. There is no traditional chair anywhere, just the padded window seats which are awkward for older people used to chairs with backs and arms.
The main drawback are the bugs. With the open-air shower/tub room, bugs are attracted after dark and pervade the entire suite. Also, the temperature in the shower/tub room is the temperature outside: 58F in the evening during January. A bit chilly drying off. The fist-sized spider that appeared in the AM probably got in through the shower/tub room as well.
Many places in Costa Rica seem to have this outdoor/indoor shower situation so FRB is not unusual. Also, FRB has rooms that are more bugless that the suite.
The staff is marvelous and, other than the bugs, this is a great spot.

Dear Mntraveler46;
Thank you for taking the time to comment on Finca Rosa Blanca. I am glad you got to stay in the El Ranchito Master Suite, it is a lovely room and as you know, quite expansive. I am sorry that you were greeted by such a big spider- this doesn't happen often but because of the robust ecology here (and in almost all of CR), sometimes they find their way in. The good news is that they are not dangerous and very timid so there is no real threat. However, as you mentioned, the outdoor shower, Jacuzzi bathtub and tiled siting room is surround by nature yet completely private, which really adds to the lush garden experience. I appreciate your idea about putting a chair with arms in the room rather than just the window seats and day couches, and we will do this today. Thanks for staying with us and we hope to see you next time where you can spend more days with us, which really adds to the experience and enjoy perhaps another of our rooms, as they are all completely unique in design and location.

My husband and i were a relatively young couple (29 years) staying at the Finca Rosa for 1 night. We got there at 6pm so way after the check-in time and didn't get a welcome drink and the guy at the reception was so rude... (check-in date 02/19/12) Did not greet us. I had to ask him if he could send someone for our luggage.
He made this disgusted face maybe coz we didn't meet his standards of age!! (there were a lot of old people at the hotel)
He said i couldnt do the coffee plantation tour at 2pm the following day as mentioned on the website. After arguing for 20 mins we gave up and went to our room. On our way to dinner he was rude yet again telling us the restaurant stops serving at 10pm and laughed that i was chased by a few dogs on my way over.
Basically service was terrible!!! I had a waiter spill coffee on me when i asked him for a refill at breakfast. This is after my husband tipped him really well the previous night.
We think its coz we were young and they just didnt get why we were there.

Dear Lovelifetavels; I am so sorry you had such a disagreeable experience at Finca Rosa Blanca, We are known for our exemplary service so this is very disappointing to read. I will certainly investigate how this happened. Please accept my sincerest apologies, it is almost unheard of in our 23 years of existence that a guest would have such a fraught experience at our hotel. The person at reception that night has been with us for many many years, and is often cited in our comments and TA for his extreme and notable service to our clients, so your comments are very unnerving.
I do want to mention that your age has nothing to do with this, as we have an equal amount of guests from every age level: traveling college students and adventurers, honeymooners, young adults and professionals, middle aged experienced travelers and even some very senior citizens. Our hotel has adventure levels for every level. I am so sorry you couldn't go on our wonderful coffee tour; we love to give the tour as we are all about coffee and its experience but that day we had an unforeseen issue arise that made it impossible for the afternoon tour. Sometimes unexpected events occur which prevent us from offering the tour (fertilization, small brush fires, the guide is ill or on another tour, etc.), Again, please accept our most sincere apologies and we will strive to never let this happen again.
