We have recently stayed in one of your hotels & found our stay extremely painful & full of inconvenience. We are not a kind of people who go on & write bad reviews but, think we actually wasted our money by spending at your hotel. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Air port Hotel, Zurich. Here are few things that we would want you to know & then answer back with the reasons -

1. As you are in a hospitality industry, we would expect guests to be greeted with smile whenever they are around the reception or enter the hotel. Sadly, none of the staff knew this basic principles. They never paid attention who comes-in and goes out. When someone arrives in hotel, I think he / she should be greeted by hotel staff / reception & not ignored as they walk in. Reception never greeted us instead ignored us all the time. We understand sometimes, that they were serving other guests before us but can a smile be brought back on their faces?
2. They were unsure about the charges of the facilities that you provide (for ex. internet) . They said I can buy internet package ( 4 hrs for 10 Francs or 24 hours for 15 Francs ). We said we will take 15 Francs one. Suddenly the guy (Andreas ) who was listening to conversation cleared this by telling us that 24 hours means to be used in one go & 4 hours for 10 Francs means you can log in & out unlimited times until you've used that allowance. The staff itself is confused that what hotel actually offers? As far as I know hotel offers this - free 30 min wi-fi on each day of your stay ( We only got it for one day & that's it ) & then after that you would need to buy it.
We bought 4 hours package. Used it for an hour for 1 day & second day used it for an hour again. After that our profile expired. I called the reception & asked the reason for this & got an answer back that I would need to purchase a new one. They know the internet has some problem but when profile expires , they can't do anything as in I have to buy a new one. I've already paid for 4 hours, why should I pay again? When I asked them this question , they said ok & gave me another voucher. Surprisingly that voucher lasted only 40 minutes & profile expired again. I was getting sick of your service at this stage. My question is, are you actually putting an effort in training your staff ? Either that 4 hours need to be used in 24 hours, or profile changes need to be handled in a better way. Nothing was cleared to us & neither to your staff. It's such a shame.
3.The tea kettle had calcium deposits . Thank God, we checked it before actually boiling it. We told the reception about it & they did gave a new kettle in return. My question is did you check the room before allotting it to guests?
4.After our first night stay , the bath dispenser had no shampoo / shower gel in it. We went to reception informed Andreas ( reception ) about it & was assured that house keeping would look into this & get it sorted. We arrived back in hotel at night only to find that nothing was done & we still don't have shower gel. We called reception again & asked about it. They never apologized for this & said they will bring us shower gel/shampoo soon. We did receive a bottle later on only to find out that we were given hand-wash instead of shampoo / shower gel for bath. How stupid is this & why would you do that? The bottle itself said hand wash , i think you can read it before giving it to your guests. As a result, we used our own personal face-wash / shampoos. We were lucky that we packed a small bottle of shampoo from UK just in case we need to take bath when we go out to gym.
5.The breakfast all three days we stayed was unchanged with a dish here or there? There were no fresh fruits other than apples. We felt bored eating same stuff continuously for 3 days in row.
6.We put a note that please put some extra teas & milk for us only to find out that nothing was done. We were given 3 teas for 2 people ? 3 teas for 2 people, what calculations do you use? If it's 2 guests staying in room, I think even numbers would work better. Even after we wrote note, it doesn't work.
7.The coach / shuttle driver gave pathetic service. He was more busy in smoking & doing his long hair with his hands than serving guests. All guests were going inside the luggage trolley tied at the back of shuttle & no help was given at all. I think courtesy pays well & poor customer service will land your business in trouble.
8.The bed-sheet / bed cover was never cleaned. When we arrived there was a dirty spot on this. It never changed as we had that spot for 3 days of our stay? Why so unhygienic facility ?

I have Holiday Inn near my place in Manchester & was thinking if ever I have guests looking to stay a night or more , I will book a room in holiday Inn for them. i think I would rethink now !
Overall we found our stay extremely painful, unhygienic, sad with a feeling of getting ripped off for no good reason. We paid €274.50 for 3 nights & on top of it 10 Francs for useless Internet connection.

Room Tip: Dont book Holiday Inn Express

Dear Mr. Adil
Thank you for staying at our hotel and all the information you provided in your review. It is always very helpful to get information about our guest's stays so that we can look at issues and make a politive change so that the quality for all our guests improve. I will be happy to give you to each point my thoughts:
1. You are right - a greeting and a smile is a MUST in our industry. Normally we have good feed-backs about the friendliness of our staff. Nevertheless I will talk to the staff once more to find out what happened on this day. This will certainly not happen again.
2. Our standards and information are clear and always the same. There must have been a missunderstanding. All vouchers can be bought for a not too expensive price at the reception. If you start using them they can always be interrupted and can be used later again. I asked Andreas today an he just told me these facts. We are taining the staff in regular terms and every staff member is aware of these internet issues. As I said I assume there was a missunderstanding.
3. At the moment all the cattles are being replaced so you will only have new kettles in the room and yes the kettles are checked daily.
4. We appologize that there was no liquid remaining in the bath room and I am also sorry that the receptionist brought you the wrong liguid. I talked to the HK-Supervisor and she will make sure the liquid is checked every day. Unortunately this was a mistake.
5. As the breakfast is included in the room rate we offer you a standard Holiday Inn Express Breakfast. It is a fact that we already upgraded the breakfast buffet a lot offering differant kind of breds, Swiss specialities of the region and much more. We normally never get complaints about our breakfast.
6. Also the tea in the room is free of charge - if you need more tea backs it will be a pleasure to bring them to your room - please call the reception staff.
7. We will talk to the shuttle company and will check your complaint.
8. It is very seldom that someone complaints about the hygienic of our hotel. Our hotel, like most hotels in Switzerland is very clean and tidy. Bed duvets are changed from the 4th night on, like it is standard in Swiss hotels in Zurich. We apologize for the sting on the bed - we have replaced the duvet now.
It is correct that Switzerland has the most expensive hotel prices of Europe, but in our hotel I do not think you are ripped off. We are well knows in Zürich to offer very moderate prices and if you imagine to have the possibility to book rooms from CHF 89.00 including breakfast this is really a bargain.
We again appologize for all inconveniences caused during your stay and we really hope that you will give us a second chance.

Stayed one night on a layover. Found the hotel to be poor value for money. Dinner was very mediocre, breakfast a bit better but all a cold buffet - no hot options. Internet has to be paid and only permits a single device to connect which is annoying if you have smartphones/tablets etc.

Our hotel offers 30 minutes of complimentary internet usage with one device per stay. Additional time can be purchased at reasonable rates.
The dinner & bar menu has recently just been updated and offers besides all time favourites such as hamburgers, pizzas and pasta also a variety of curries, chicken and vegetarian dishes.
Our breakfast buffet has a wide choice suiting the breakfast habits of most of our guests and being typically served in Europe.

very new hotel, clean rooms, perfect for bus. traveller, internet somewhat slow,
breakfast so-so: choice seems limited, local rolls/buns seem to be the frozen dough and quick bake type,
pay for parking 10 euro per day: hotel is in an industrial area, curbside parking impossible (if you try they tell you even the curb/grass belongs to the hotel...)
staff could be more friendly

Room Tip: book well ahead if can - prices seem to vary widely according to time of the year, holidays, etc.

Thank you for your positive review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay so much at our hotel. Parking is very cheap at our hotel. We charge only CHF 10.00 for 24 hours. At most of the hotels in Zurich and surrounding you pay nearly double the price. It is correct that on the day of your stay we could not provide our fresh bread since the deliverer did not deliver it on time.
We are working very hard every day to improve the guest service and staff friendliness.

Hope to see you soon back again at the Holiday Inn Express Zurich Airport.

Very well furnished, neat and well maintained. They provide shuttle services to the city and the airport which is very helpful. Breakfast was decent.Overall a nice place to stay, value for money.

I was a bit shocked at the idea of a Holiday Inn for well over $200 per night, but apparently that is good price for Zurich.

It was a delightful surprise to find a clean and comfortable room with a large picture window looking over the airport. A nice bar and dining area with an elegance and sophistication I would hope for from a Hyatt Regency or similar. The menu had a very broad selection of foods suitable for travelers from anywhere to get something familiar, and the Chef (yes you read correctly, the Chef at the Holiday Inn Express) brought out my meal and chatted for as moment.

The hotel is new, the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: There is a pretty nice view of the airfield from the rooms on the street side, and zero aircraft noi...
