There are very few places where you go and there are none complains at all. Everything goes perfect. This is a good example of it.

Room Tip: Ask for Pool Villa, very private and the pool inside the villa is incredible.

The Pavillions are situated on a hill with a magnificient view over the inland of Phuket. The service and the friendliness of the staff are excellent and the villas are very spacious and offer a lot of privacy. We enjoyed our stay very much!

The only thing that was a little annoying from time to time was the work of the room service staff. There would be some need of improvement in teaching the staff to guarantee a consistant cleanliness.

The physical location and facilities of The Pavilions are superb and deserve a 5-star rating; the service and management do not.

Let's start with the 5 star part:
We were impressed with the general up-keeping of the place; most of the staff are really good with what they are doing; if you want to eat out, they would recommend good restaurants (or you pick yourself) and arrange a private car to send you there as well as picking you up when you finished - I would call it "5 star service with no additional charges".

Now, the not so cool part:
Upon arrival at the airport, we waited for the hotel's private transfer which never showed up. Not the best start. We rang The Pavilions, and were told to take a taxi instead. We registered this with the reception staff upon arrival and were basically told that they never received an email from our travel agent about our flight time. The management's solution? The travel agent would pay us back the taxi fare. Quite frankly, The Pavilions seem to have missed the point. We simply wanted the advertised luxury of having a hotel car waiting to take us to our room. As such, a genuine apology would insult us far less than suggesting that having paid to stay in a 5-star hotel for the better part of a week, we are interested in reclaiming the trifling taxi fare.It is also not difficult to take the initiative to find out our flight time knowing the arrival date, which is the "Little Extra" I'd expect a 5-Star hotel would and should offer.

The second point to note is that our room service leftovers were left outside our front door at least overnight on three occasions. It's not even that we put them there: The cleaning staff moved them outside, and then just left them! On the subject of general lack of upkeep, we asked for our broken pool light to be fixed and despite promising us that they would do this, the light was never replaced.

The third point is also the one that absolutely kills all their credits. On leaving, I took two bottles of the toiletaries that we have been using during our stay simply because I really liked them. Being half-used by ourselves, I was wrong to assume those were complementary from a 5-star hotel. Within minutes of leaving the villa and going to check out at reception, the receptionist received a phone call and informed me that the two half-empty bottles were missing and they were not for free. I was shocked but couldn't be bothered arguing with her, I instantly told her to simply add them onto the bill. But it took quite a bit of time for her to understand that I wasn't going to dig the used toiletaries out from my packed suitcase before she finally charged us at the full price with plus a 10% service charge and 7% tax. Getting hounded by a receptionist about some half-empty bottles of toiletary is not quite the 5-star experience we're used to. In fact, given the vehemence with which the hotel pursued this half-used bottle, it makes me wonder what they would have used it for had I left it there... A bit of "recycling" the products and then present them as "new" to the next guests?

Last but not least, the General Manager seems to be a mystery. Either he/she never hung around or he/she did but never bothered saying Hi. For a resort with as little as 49 rooms, this is quite unusual in my previous experience. Should we have met the GM, we'd registered our concerns directly.

The suggestion: Please can the management spend some time on training some staffs about their clientele.

With the bad starting and the shocking ending, despite the fact I fully enjoyed the friendliness and the hard-working of a lot of the staffs in this resort, I am giving my first ever below average rating for a 5-star hotel.

Dear Reader,

While I am happy to read the good comments, I have taken action to address the negative experiences these guests encountered. Our objective is to deliver flawless service and a memorable stay for all our guests.
We can only apology regarding the room service and the broken pool light which wasn’t replace on time.
Concerning the hotel private transfers, that is an option we offer to our guest to start their “Pavilions’ experience” as soon as they put down a foot in Phuket, straight from the airport. However, in order to be able to organize these transfers we need to know the flights details beforehand which was not the case. Indeed the answer given by our receptionist was not appropriate, our apologies.

We have selected Aromatherapy Associates for our in villa amenities, a world leading company for spa products as effective as they are luxurious. In our resort, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion are packaged in a 300ml pump style dispenser with the purpose to be refilled in a perfectly hygienic way and preventing wastage and pollution. As written on a note in the bathroom, our amenities and other products are available for sale in our boutique.

I would certainly have welcomed and met them during their stay, like I do with all other guests, had I not been myself away from the resort during the period of their stay.

This was my first time to stay at the Pavilions, but it was my boyfriend’s second time. We chose to stay in an Ocean View Pool Villa. We were in Villa 20 and it had excellent views of the Andaman Sea and having a private pool was truly amazing. You could go swimming with or without your bathing suit and could step into the pool directly from the sliding doors of your bedroom.
The quantity and quality of food at the resort is outstanding. You could either have breakfast served Continental style in your room, or you could eat at the Restaurant where they had buffet style breads and fruits and a menu to order proteins and pastries from. You can choose to have lunch in your villa or at the Restaurant. Dinner can be served at the Restaurant, in your private villa, or at the 360 Bar which feels like your in a tree house above the resort.
In phase two of the resort, they have recently built a large pool with another bar/restaurant, though we did not use these facilities. The pool had lounge chairs and there was a bamboo walking bridge that took you to an additional lounge chair area.
One neat feature in the second phase area was a funicular that could take you between the various levels since the rooms in this area are built on the hillside.
The staff at the resort is extremely friendly and wants your experience to be one you will remember. A nice touch is personal meetings with the General Manager (JC) or the Assistant Manager (Linda) who only want your time at The Pavilions to be everything and more that you expect it to be.
Although it is a bit pricey, the splurge is well worth it. You will remember your stay at The Pavilions and will not be able to wait until your return.

Room Tip: The Spa Pool Pavilion & Penthouse rooms are from phase 2 of the resort and are therefore newer.

Stayed here for 15 days in Jan/Feb this year. Not knowing what to expect we were extremely pleased with our accommodation. We actually swapped from an Ocean View to a Spa Pool Villa as when we arrived there were some insects trying to share the villa with us (happens once each year apparently and they disappear in a couple of days). We were very pleased with our spa villa and the total privacy of the pool and terrace. We hardly ventured out other than to go shopping a couple of times and a tour with our limo and driver. Very knowledgeable, very helpful and the best way to see the sights. I can honestly say the room service is absolutely excellent, food delivered to your villa within 30 mins of ordering and set out for you wherever you want to eat. Another phone call and they come back to collect the empty dishes - why would you want to go out!!

Standard of cleanliness - excellent
standard of service - excellent

Would love to mention individual members of staff who gave good service but every member of staff gave excellent service with a very friendly approach.

Definately going again.

Room Tip: Spa villa very good and try a Thai massage in your own spa room
